PREPARING FOR GRADUATE SCHOOL Writing The Personal Statement Most graduate school application processes require a personal statement or statement of purpose. Individual schools determine the format. Some require the applicant to address specific information while others give the applicant freedom to address a chosen topic. CURRICULUM VITAE What is the difference between a résumé and a CV? • • A résumé is shorter in length, usually one page. A CV is normally three or more pages in length. A résumé creates a professional identity, while a CV creates a scholarly identity.
