Often times exercise routines focus on strength, power and endurance and leave out the simpler things like balance, coordination and range of motion. Developing the simple things can help to improve overall performance in any exercise routine. An increase in range of motion alone can help to improve not only exercise movements but ease the pains of everyday life. Improvements in balance and coordination help to reduce the risk of falling and as the risk of falling is reduced so is the chance of injury. Did you know that one in four adults over age 65 fall each year and one in five of these falls results in a broken bone or head injury (Center for Disease Control)?

MONICA GUIDRY, M.ED Monica is a practicing Exercise Physiologist and Fitness Director at CWR at the Fontana Center here in Lafayette and also an Adjunct Instructor in the School of Kinesiology at the University of Louisiana Lafayette.
