Volunteers Needed The Sudbury Community Food Pantry • The Sudbury Community Food Pantry, which serves clients from 61 cities and towns, is open to clients on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from noon to 2:30. During each of those afternoons, we try to have 5 volunteers working directly with the clients, basically acting as one-
on-one personal shoppers. If you can volunteer just one Tuesday or Thursday afternoon a month, (from about 11:45 to 2:30) that would be great. As a final note, our volunteers mostly range in ages from their 20s to 70s. • We are also looking for someone to act as our Volunteer Coordinator, making sure we have 4-5 volunteers to handle each of these shifts. The job should take 3-5 hours a week, working from your home, and involves phone calls, emails, and being able to send out scheduling polls to confirm the availability of our volunteers on a monthly basis. You will get whatever training etc. you need from the

today’s Massachusetts General Hospital has just over 1,000 beds licensed. The documentary is a comprehensive look at what was an immense medical treatment center. Savenay is located halfway between the French cities of St. Nazaire, a major debarkation point for American soldiers in World War I, and Nantes. Fort Devens Museum is on the third floor of 94 Jackson Road and is wheelchair accessible. Its focus is on preserving and sharing the history of the over-100-year-old Camp/Fort Devens and the stories of those who trained, worked, and lived there. No charge is made for admission to the Museum itself or to this program, but a gener-

OPEN YOUR HOME TO A LOVING COMPANION
Matilda female – 2 years “I’m in search of my forever home. I am a scared girl that has come a long way. I would do best in a quiet home with no small children or dogs. I would make an excellent pal for your current kitty while you admire me from a distance. I love other kitties but I am still learning that humans don’t mean me any harm. I’ve let a couple volunteers pet me, and I might even rub against your hand if you’re offering up a fresh bowl of wet food. However, I will need some time to get used to my surroundings and be comfortable living with a human family. If you have the time and patience to help a scared girl please consider a foster to adopt situation. I would be best in a safe indoor/outdoor situation because I love to run around and be playful. P.S.: If you have mice in your house, they won’t be there for long with me around.”
Corner quoins accent stucco columns that frame an impressive and welcoming portico. Fun By The Numbers Like puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test!
Here’s How It Works:
Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

Quitting smoking is not as easy as it sounds. It often takes multiple attempts for people to quit and the most effective ways are with the support of others who are working to stop smoking too. Starting Monday, September 24 and continuing through November 5, Emerson Hospital will be hosting a Freedom from Smoking® group clinic to help people learn how to overcome tobacco addictions and enjoy the benefits of better health, extra money and healthier relationships. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an individual’s risk of coronary heart disease drops to half that of a smoker’s just one year after they quit smoking. The Freedom from Smoking clinics were established by the American Lung Association and are proven to be successful to help people stop smoking. Those who use the program are six times more likely to be smokefree one year later than those who try to quit on their own. Participants will learn about lifestyle changes that make quitting easier, medicines that can help stop smoking, preparing for Quit Day, managing stress, avoiding weight gain, developing a new self-image and learning how to stay smoke-free. The eight clinics provide a supportive setting
action unlimited for adults to work through the quitting process. Claire Rindenello, RRT, Pulmonary Rehabilitation Coordinator at Emerson Hospital, will lead the program. For more than 20 years, Claire has worked with people who have lung disease and is well-known for her compassionate approach to helping smokers quit the addiction. The Freedom from Smoking clinics will meet weekly for eight sessions from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Emerson Hospital. Classes will be held in the Lovejoy Conference Room, located on the 4th floor of the hospital at 133 Old Road to Nine Acre Corner in Concord. The cost to participate is $100. Smokers age 18 and over who are interested in quitting are welcome to participate. For more information, call Claire Rindenello at 978-2873715. To register, visit www. emersonwellness.org and you will find the Freedom from Smoking class under Class Schedules.
The Concord Players The Concord Players are pleased to announce the 2018 – 2019 productions taking place at The Performing Arts Center, 51 Walden Street in Concord, MA. Subscriptions are now available for this wonderful season for only $58 – one ticket for each of the three productions - which is
a savings of $14 off of the individual ticket prices. Benefits include reserved seating and a Stage Source discount card valid at approximately 50 participating theaters in the Greater Boston and Metro West area. The season opens with Arcadia, written by Tom Stoppard, directed by Doug Sanders of Framingham and produced by Kathy Lague of Sudbury, which runs November 2 – 17, 2018. Considered one of Stoppard’s true masterworks, it is a play with many layers filled with smart dialogue and passionate characters – many of whom are quite intelligent and some who make fools of themselves. The play ping-pongs between two time periods in the same country home in the English midlands: during the early 1800’s a young tutor and his charge discuss mathematics and poetry; during modern times, two academics visit to study the events that occurred in the 19th century. There are discussions about advanced ideas in physics and math and there are sexual attractions being played out. It gets a bit chaotic in the end, but that’s part of the point of the play. The winter production is The Country House, written by Donald Margulies and directed by J. Mark Baumhardt, is set in the Berkshires during the

Williamstown Theatre Festival and provides a piercing look at a family of performers coming to terms with the roles they play in each other’s lives. Performances will take place February 8 – 23, 2019. The season ends with the spring musical production The Secret Garden which is a timely classic about loss, discovery, and redemption. The story, adapted from the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett with music and lyrics by Marsha Norman and music by Lucy Simon, follows the indomitable spirit of Mary Lennox as she restores the faded beauty of her aunt’s garden and brings healing to her uncle’s grieving heart. Directed by Julia Deter, performances will be April 26 – May 11, 2019. For more information please visit: www.concordplayers.org or email: email@example.com or call: 978-369-2990.
