ing, participation, cooperation among organizations, and the pursuit of both individual and group interests. Today the mission of the Library is to provide materials, space, access and opportunities for members of the community to learn and discover; to enrich their lives and further their personal goals; and to engage with others in a comfortable environment. It has become clear that there

is a under-served subset of our community that has difficulty in accessing all the services described that the library has to offer. This program will attempt to address some of those needs of this group. This group is primarily made up of our elderly population over 65 that are either home-bound or have transportation issues. Currently this population comprises 17% of the town’s population (@1,800) and is expected to increase by 50% in the next ten years. The objectives of this program are to engage home-bound Northborough residents in the community and determine their library and information needs,

and deliver library materials, including print and non-print materials so that they can continue to read, listen and view items tailored to meet their recreational interests. We want to provide the full range of our borrowing services and help make local residents who happen to be home-bound feel connected to the community and the Town in which they live. In short we want to bring the Library to their doorstep. Northborough residents, with a Northborough address, who are unable to physically travel to the library, may register for this service. This includes individuals who may have permanent or

Fun By The Numbers Like puzzles? Then you’ll love sudoku. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test!

Here’s How It Works:

Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudoku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, column and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can figure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle!

WWI AmbulanceDriving Documentary With new and improved projection equipment, the Fort Devens Museum is able once again to screen the documentary “Model Ts to War: American Ambulances on the Western Front 1914-1918” at the Museum’s open hours Saturday, July 21, starting at 1 p.m. For viewers devoted to seeing

early motor vehicles in operation, this film highlights the use of Henry Ford’s Model Ts in the war. The film shows one way in which Americans, both men and women, became involved in World War I in Europe prior to America’s entry into that “Great War.” Seeing the Model T in action would also be a good introduction to what will be going on behind the Museum on 94 Jackson Road

during the weekend following this program. That’s when the Museum plays host to Living History reenactors of World War I. Men and women in WWI uniforms will be on hand to display and talk about collections of WWI military paraphernalia and equipment expected to include a vintage Model T ambulance. There will be light refreshments and the chance to talk with others interested in American and especially military history on July 21st with the same expectation at Living History Weekend, July 28-29, when refreshments will be “beefed up,” so to speak, by a lunch truck. Ed Klekowski, a University

of Mass.-Amherst professor, compiled this documentary. It is based on his years of research in France and Belgium as well as into U.S. archives. This search through the archives and in the field led to his writing with his wife, Libby, the nonfiction book Americans in Occupied Belgium, 1914-1918 and a historical novel, The Kaiser’s American. The museum is located on the 3rd floor of 94 Jackson Road, Devens and is wheelchair accessible. This program is free and open to the public but donations are appreciated. Living History Weekend At Devens 100 years ago, in 1918, hundreds of thousands of soldiers were training at Camp Devens and other cantonments in the U.S. while more were fighting overseas in World War I. As part of its on-going World War I commemoration, the Fort Devens Museum is sponsoring a World War I Living History Weekend on July 28th and July 29th at the quadrangle behind 94 Jackson Road, Devens. Come explore four WWI encampments for an overall experience of The Great War: Allied Powers, Central Powers, Red Cross/Salvation Army, and Civilians. There will be equipment and vehicles including two Model T ambulances, artillery, and civilian Model T’s. Uniformed re-enactors will display their gear and offer
