10 WAYS TO PREVENT WILDFIRES WHILE TARGET SHOOTING THIS SUMMER Wri$en By:  Ac-on  Target

If you  plan  to  target  shoot on  public  land  this  season, make  sure  you understand  the regula-ons  and  take  the necessary  precau-ons  to prevent  the  chance  of wildfires. Here  are  10  sugges-ons on  how  to  prevent wildfires  while  shoo-ng.

1. BRING A BUCKET OF WATER A 5-‐gallon  bucket  of  water  can  prevent  disaster  if  a  fire  starts. Place  the  bucket  near  the  target  you  plan  to  shoot,  so  you won't  have  to  carry  the  bucket  a  long  distance  if  a  fire  does start.

2. SHOOT ON QUALITY STEEL Ac-on Target's  steel  targets are  design  to  minimize  risks to  both  the  shooter  and  the environment. The  predictable  spla$er pa$ern  reduces  the  surface area  exposed  to  sparks  and hot  bullet  fragments.

3. PLACE YOUR TARGET ON DIRT OR GRAVEL Placing a  target  in  tall  grass  increases  the  risk  of  fire.

4. Don't  shoot  trash. 5.  Don't  shoot  with  steel  core  ammo. 6.  Bring  a  shovel  and  an  old  blanket. 7.  Never  shoot  exploding  targets. 8.  Don't  use  incendiary  or  tracer  ammo. 9.  Don't  smoke. 10.  Park  your  vehicle  away  from  dry  grass.

You may  not  be  able  to  plan  for  every  possible scenario,  but  just  taking  a  few  extra precau-ons  while  shoo-ng  can  greatly  reduce the  risk  of  star-ng  a  fire.  Just  remember  that every  -me  you  set  foot  on  public  land,  you represent  the  shoo-ng  community,  and  one bad  decision  could  affect  everyone.
