UNHCR/AAH South Sudan Project Senior Pharceutical Stores Assistant Juba, South Sudan Project Manager Closely work with AAH-I Logistics and Health Teams Effective management of the UNHCR-provided medical drugs and supplies under the AAH South Sudan programme.

Background UNHCR runs refugee operations, which require provision of medical drugs and supplies in four states in the Republic of South Sudan. Medical drugs and supplies for those operations are procured internationally by UNHCR and stored in Juba or other UNHCR locations, from where they are dispatched to refugee operations (in Unity, Upper Nile, Western Equatoria and Central Equatoria States), according to VERIFIABLE needs expressed by the UNHCR implementing partners. UNHCR currently has storage facilities available in Juba, Yei, Maban, and Yida in/from which medical supplies and drugs are stored and dispatched.

Job Description The purpose of this role is to ensure the effective management of medical drugs and supplies provided by UNHCR in its operational areas in the Republic of South Sudan. This includes ensuring availability of current inventory of supplies at the warehouse, tracking the utilization rates among implementing partners and ensuring there are no stock-outs in all locations. Working under the Action Africa Help International (AAH-I) management, the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Supplies Assistant will work closely with the UNHCR Health Team in Juba and other locations, including the UNHCR Logistics and Supplies Unit as required to ensure the efficient and rational management of UNHCR procured and/or donate pharmaceuticals, medical, and nutrition supplies. Key accountabilities: 1. Under the leadership of the UNHCR Health Team Lead and in collaboration with the Logistics and Supplies Unit, receive all medical supplies/equipment procured (locally or internationally), verify goods received against waybills/receipts, ensure appropriate storage and follow up on any discrepancies.


2. Supervise the appropriate packaging of drugs and medical supplies leaving the stores for distribution to other storage facilities and partner health facilities. 3. At all times, maintain an updated inventory of all medical supplies/equipment at all UNHCR warehouses. 4. Through regular inspection, monitor drugs usage and appropriate storage in partner storage facilities and clinics, including cold chain management and record keeping. 5. In close collaboration with the UNHCR Health Team Lead, receive and document drugs/medical supplies order request from partners and ensure their timely delivery. 6. Dispatch orders made by the partners, and do follow-up ensuring they are properly documented, including updating of stock cards and preparation of packing lists. 7. Conduct physical stock checks and providing monthly stock reports to the UNHCR Health Team Lead. 8. Provide support to public health officers in collecting drugs consumption information from partners. 9. Regularly conduct inspection for quality risk factors that include damage, spoilt, and expired drugs, including storage conditions, records, re-ordering, stock rotation [FEFO], and safety. 10. Make regular visits to the field locations in Unity, Upper Nile, Western Equatoria, and Central Equatoria States to provide required support. 11. Contribute to building the capacity of the MoH and partners on overall pharmaceutical management. 12. Perform other tasks as required.

Minimum Job Requirements       

Higher Diploma in pharmacy, Nursing, or equivalent education. Proven warehouse management practical experience of 2 years. Computer literacy, including the use of MS Word and Excel. Highly organized professional with good attention to details. Basic knowledge and experience in medical stores inventory management Training on warehouse management is desirable. Previous similar work experience in Non-Governmental Organizations or the United Nations in South Sudan is desirable.
