CLAYCO IS HONORED TO SUPPORT AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY

W E LCO M E LETTER FROM THE CHAIRS For the first time in its 100-year history, the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives and reduce cancer mortality rates is at risk from COVID-19. • The American Cancer Society is the largest private, nonprofit funder of cancer research in the United States. The impact of COVID-19 will reduce our ability to fund cancer research by 50% in 2020 -- our lowest investment this century if current trends continue. • Free transportation and lodging programs – which were temporarily paused to protect vulnerable cancer patients -- are reopening soon. But reopening and sustaining these programs comes at a significant cost. Cancer doesn’t stop for a pandemic! In all communities, cancer patients and their caregivers need us to forge ahead with our work - including research, patient services, information and resource sharing, education, and advocacy.   We can’t and won’t allow progress to be put on hold because of COVID-19. At risk are more and better treatments and discoveries that will improve and save lives. This is why, my wife Jane and I are serving as the chairs for the 5th Annual Champions of Hope @ Home led by the CEOs Against Cancer of Missouri – St. Louis Chapter on Saturday, November 7, 2020. Because patients need us now more than ever, we, in turn, need you more than ever. In the face of COVID-19, the American Cancer Society is continuing their lifesaving mission in St. Louis and throughout the nation. Your support will enable to provide the resources necessary to support cancer patients and communities. We’re deeply grateful for your commitment to this community. On behalf of the American Cancer Society, thank you for your generous support of this important mission.

EMCEE: PA U L CO O K I’m Paul Cook. So what’s the deal with me? That’s the topic of this little entry here. Well, my “deal” is all about having fun and finding a way to feel good and healthy about this moment we are sharing together. That’s what I think about before I go on the radio each day. I’m totally obsessed with discovering and proving original ways for us to feel alive. These are crazy times with jammed schedules, super lofty parental expectations and tight checking accounts. It can be so chaotic running around the city trying to assemble your day. That’s where I come in - I’m over on Y98, dealing! That’s my deal. Just let Lance & I and the Y98 tunes release some of that pressure. So, now that we got that straight, I want to tell you a bit about me. I’m a STL boy through and through. Lindbergh High School Class of 1990! It’s truly a great honor to be on the air in this very special city. It’s a dream come true. I’ve lived all over working on the radio: Los Angeles, the Chicago area, and middle Missourah :) This last year has been surreal in a not good way, but things are looking up. Early this year I’ll be all finished with my treatments for colorectal cancer. Crappy deal right? But because of this, I’ve seen such beautiful things from our wonderful city. Thousands of St. Louisans have shown me such generosity and kindness, lifting me and my family up just when we needed it. I’m so grateful I have the opportunity to try and return that incredible kindness.

E N T E R TA I N M E N T : J O A N N A S E R E N KO Joanna is an independent St. Louis based singersongwriter, who was also a contender on this past season of The Voice. She has three songs available on all streaming platforms, and plans to have her full album release in 2021. K E Y N OT E S P E A K E R JOEL “THOR”NEEB CANCER SURVIVOR AND CEO OF AFTERBURNER Joel “Thor” Neeb is CEO of the consulting firm and corporate events company Afterburner, Inc. He leads more than 70 former elite military professionals, including fighter pilots, Navy SEALS, and Army Rangers, in achieving strategic objectives and fostering elite teams for Fortune 100 companies and professional sports teams. Neeb joined Afterburner in 2012, was named President in 2015, and assumed the role of CEO in July 2019. Neeb initiated Afterburner’s expansion from an eventsbased business into transformational business consulting. This focus developed into Afterburner’s newest business unit offering, Impact Consulting, where Afterburner’s team works along-side clients to identify challenges and improve performance. As a former F-15 mission commander, United States Air Force, Neeb continues to go by his pilot call sign, “Thor,” in his business career. As a pilot, he’s both escorted the President and performed flybys at football games. He was the tactical leader of 300 of the most senior combat pilots in the Air Force and oversaw the execution of a $150M/year flight program. Neeb was named the Top Instructor Pilot at the Air Force Flight Training Headquarters in 2010. In 2012, he was selected out of 62,000 people to receive the Air Education and Training Command (AECT) National Public Service Award. In 2010, Neeb was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer and given a fifteen percent chance of recovery. During treatment, Neeb founded CureCare, a community outreach program for at-risk students in San Antonio, which has reached more than fifteen thousand kids to date. Additionally, he co-authored the awardwinning book, Survivor’s Obligation, released in October 2019, to tell the story of his cancer journey and his resolve to live an intentional life. Neeb sits on the board of several national organizations and is the co-founder of a military support corporation, including PCSgrades. Neeb holds a BA from the USAF Academy, an MA from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University, and an MBA from the University of Texas. Neeb enjoys competing in sporting events; he completed the New Zealand Ironman Triathlon in 2015 and was a contestant on American Ninja Warrior in 2018. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and three children.
