AN INTERVIEW WITH DIANA & HELYN
What do you like about working at The Old Printworks?
Diana: The site has so much history, having been the former Butler, Tanner & Dennis Printers, so many locals have a positive affiliation towards it. The development has transformed the site into a range of high-quality homes which is a wonderful progression that I am proud to be part of.
Helyn: The location is brilliant - we love showing customers what we have to offer here. It’s great that the development appeals to so many different people whatever their reason for moving, there is something to suit everyone.
What do you like most about the homes being built?
Diana: I like that so much thought has gone into the fabric of the buildingsthe materials used reduce our carbon footprint and ensure the homes are energy-efficient. As well as the sustainable aspect, the buildings sit so comfortably in the local community and the homes have an incredible sense of light open space and luxury.
Helyn: I notice the difference in the Acorn build, the extra height in the ceilings, the oversized windows and sliding doors, the high-quality bathrooms etc. All the homes and landscaping feel above and beyond most new build developments.
What’s your favourite home and why?
Helyn: It has to be our 4-bedroom T8 style. The open plan kitchen/living is beautifully designed – and having the separate living space on the first floor gives plenty of options to relax and can double up to a fifth bedroom if needed.
Diana: I love the T9 4-bedroom detached style. The huge glass window on the first floor is a showstopper and maximises the light into the room and onto the landing. Every room is a good size and the principal bedroom has a door with a glass Juliette balcony overlooking the garden area.
What are the benefits of a new build home?
Diana: There is a lot of clever design to the fabric of the building to ensure it is as energy-efficient as possible - because of these features, every house achieves an EPC rating of B.
Helyn: It has to be the insulation. Our homes are so warm which means lower bills and the low maintenance on a new property is such an advantage to having everything brand new. Our fabulous specification is top quality so appliances will outlast cheaper brands.
Why do you think this is a great place to live?
Helyn: Frome is such a vibrant place to live and The Old Printworks sits perfectly within the town. With many residents already moved in, there is a close community forming which is wonderful to see.
Diana: You are also so close to Frome train station and the town should you wish to walk into the centre. The fact that the development has 1.5 acres of public open space and a new boardwalk to link to the River Frome is an added benefit.
Best things to do in Frome and nearby?
Helyn: Browse around the beautiful independent shops and local businesses, Frome has so much to offer. Frome has the only independent town council in the UK, and this shows with all the independent shops on offer. The theatres are also very appealing, and The Cheese & Grain is a great venue for live music which I love.
Diana: For me, it has to be the Frome Independent Market. The roads close and the streets are buzzing with live music, you can wander through the independent local food and drink producers, vintage clothing and eclectic furniture stalls and then pop into the Archangel for a delicious lunch.

Helyn: We are here to help and guide our customers without pressure. Sometimes it’s hard to know exactly what you want, and moving house can feel overwhelming, but we’re here to make the process as stress-free as possible.
