Finding places to set up camp and organizing a route that avoided high traffic highways as often as possible required plenty of advance preparation. But identifying a sensible route was only part of the challenge to completing the ride. Many cities and counties have regulations that restrict horseback riding, including Bloomington. Despite their objections the council approved the parking plan by a 6-1 vote. The site location for the ramp was chosen over two other areas of the campus because it met the most objectives of the plan, according to Jim Goblirsch of HGA Architects, who worked on the ramp project for the college. The location provided the best access to the college, wouldn’t block pathways into the college and allowed for a storm water YEAR IN REVIEW: TO NEXT PAGE
