As Seen in BLITZ Fashioning Eighties Style

Page 18

In London at the start of the 1980s, three style magazines emerged to define an era. On the pages of BLITZ , The Face and i-D, a new breed of young iconoclasts presented their sartorial and cultural visions, hoping to inspire revolution. As the fashion editor of BLITZ from 1982–87, Iain R. Webb was at the centre of this world. His images manipulated fashion to explore ideas of transformation, beauty, glamour and sex. Here are over 100 BLITZ fashion stories, with images and tear-sheets straight from the magazine, exclusive archive content and original BLITZ interviews with key designers of the period. In addition, there is a vast amount of new material: the memories of those involved – photographers, models, designers, make-up artists, hairdressers and others – form an essential oral history of an under-documented time.
