On Saturday, March 14, Al Lopez Park will bring together marrow donors and transplant patients to demonstrate that the cure for blood cancer really is in the hands of ordinary people. By lacing up their sneakers, participants in the Tampa Be The Match Walk+Run will raise money to add more potential marrow donors to the Be The Match Registry and fund ongoing research so a marrow transplant can help even more patients with blood diseases live a long, healthy life. Be The Match recruits and matches volunteer marrow donors with patients who need transplants to help cure their blood cancers. Because the event includes a 5K, 1K and even a Tot Trot, people of all ages and abilities are expected to participate in the Be The Match Walk+Run event. It’s part of a nationwide, 17-city series.
