Ryan Martin After success in local talent competitions including Grafton’s best busker competition in 2012, Jacaranda busking competition 2012 and the Northern Beach’s Talent Competition 2013, local lad Ryan Martin decided to take his music to the next level and has been writing and performing original songs ever since. Ryan uses the combination of a guitar, percussion box, harmonica and vocals to create a soulful, acoustic and energetic sound.

Grace is a young, up and coming singer/song writer from Grafton and is fast known for her angelic voice and impacting original songs. Taking to the stage with her own composition as well as her own touch on our favourite songs, Grace’s style is one enjoyed by all.

Indie/folk couple Anna and Jed live a life of surf and travel and bring a relaxed, yet adventurous, vibe to the stage – much like their lifestyle. Songs like ‘On the Road’ and ‘What you do’ draw the crowd in, to share experiences from their worldly journeys. Quirky and alluring arrangements of upbeat and mellow songs encourage tapping toes and elicit a desire to walk a little slower through life.’- The Clarence Valley Independent.

Tahlia Matheson

Simone Smith Clarence Valley local and performing musician on both a national and international level, Simone brings a seasoned experience of eclectic sounds reviving the favorites throughout the eras along with current compositions. As a regular, active performer in the music industry for 15 years, Simone provides the sounds to accompany any event with her acoustic finger-style folk arrangements.

Singer/songwriter from Byron Bay, Tahlia has performed twice on the busking stage at the Byron Bay Bluesfest, at Tamworth Country Music Festival, The National Folk Festival and in 2016 at the famous Nashville Bluebird Café. Tahlia has also recently returned home from London working on her songwriting and she’s just released her debut Ep ‘Wait and See’.

School Holiday FUN!

with Club Café Team member

Marie Howe

We love having you on our team! How long have you been here? I love being a part of the GDSC team. I started in September last year, just in time for a really busy silly season over Christmas. What is your favourite animal? Without a doubt, my favourite animal is a dog. The most loving, understanding, intelligent companions. Especially my poodle, Bella. You’ve known for your love for shoes. How many pairs of shoes do you actually own? I have more than 10 and less than 100, but since work started for me at the GDSC, I live in thongs or work shoes. What is your favourite thing about working at the GDSC? There are so many things that are great about working at the GDSC. Co-workers, patrons and with the recent weather, the fabulous airconditioned venue. And just for fun… If you were a crayon, what colour would you be? Well if I was a crayon, I would be yellow, because that is the brightest in the bunch. What the colour yellows says about Marie – She enjoys learning and sharing her knowledge with others. Happiness comes easy to her and others would compare her to sunshine. We’d agree!

Men’s Bowling Club

The GDSC Men’s Bowling Club is a great example of what a sporting club should be. There’s a mix of social and competition bowls played during the year, with Wednesdays and Fridays being the main days to enjoy some social bowls with pairs games (with the exception of the last Wednesday of the month which is a triples game). The Bowling Club also runs Tuesday night Men’s and Thursday night Mixed Triples which is aimed at encouraging new and old bowlers to enjoy social bowls at its best.

examples are Paul Sutton and Gary Ahrens making it through to the State Playoffs in their first year, and Gary Harrison and Allan Knox completing a similar task in the Senior Pairs. We also have had some good results in the Pennants and are hoping to get stronger this year.

The Men’s Club has some of the highest prize money for winners, runners up and lucky losers in the area and the Club’s members enjoy a laugh and camaraderie at every opportunity.

There are also several Club Competitions held during the year, including inter Club Championships and Open Tournaments. The Open Tournaments include an Open Pairs Tournament in June, a September Triples Tournament, The Chris Bennett Memorial Grade 5 and Under Tournament in September and recently an Australia Day 1 Bowl Game followed by Mixed Triples, which all agreed was a great success.

The Men’s bowling club have had good success over the years which is a testament to the encouragement and support provided by the Club, its Committee and its members. Some

All in all, the GDSC Men’s Bowling Club is a great club to be a part of and having to enjoy the facilities that the GDSC provide make it only better. Come in and join us today.
