Delve into Scandinavia’s Viking archaeology, maritime history and inspirational coastal scenery, exploring the modern art and architecture with 5 nights on the famed Hurtigruten Line. OVERVIEW

HIGHLIGHTS

Scandinavia has long celebrated its marvellous natural environment – snowcapped mountains, vast forests, sublime fjords and waterways. The relationship of Scandinavians to their environment has shaped their history, from Viking explorers to maritime empires, and its unique modern design aesthetic that enjoys enduring popularity around the world. This tour combines Viking archaeology, maritime history and some of the best of Scandinavia’s scenery with an exploration of the modern art and architecture it has inspired. A highlight is a 5-night cruise on the renowned Hurtigruten Line from inside the Arctic Circle to Bergen.

> Five nights on the Hurtigruten Line, exploring Norway’s stunning fjords and rugged arctic coastline on a cruise from the Arctic Circle to Bergen > Scandinavia’s beautiful waterfront cities: Stockholm’s archipelago, Oslo’s architectural revival and Bergen’s historic harbour > Stockholm’s Vasa museum, a testament to the country’s former maritime glory > Historic Uppsala, Sweden’s spiritual and intellectual heartland > Fine art collections, from the Viking period through to the works of Edvard Munch > The Scandinavian design aesthetic of Arne Jacobsen, Jørn Utzon and Henning Larsen

16 nights’ accommodation in 4 and 5-star hotels, with 5 nights cruising in outside cabins on the upper deck of Hurtigruten’s MS Richard With. All breakfasts and 15 lunches or dinners. Oslo-Kirkenes and BergenCopenhagen flights, all ground transport, entrance fees and tipping.

MS RICHARD WITH The MS Richard With is a Hurtigruten cruise ship that proudly carries the name of the company’s founder. Onboard, we have booked Arctic Superior cabins on the upper deck of the ship, which underwent a complete refurbishment in late 2018. Passengers requiring twin beds will be accommodated in Polar Outside cabin types. The ship features a panorama lounge and sun deck where the dedicated onboard expedition team offer insightful lectures and presentations.
