s there anything Beyonce can't do? shortly after being crowned People magazine's Most Beautiful, Beyonce is receiving a bit of recognition for the brains beneath that perfect exterior. On May 15, the singer/songwriter/actress, etc will pick up an award from the New York Association of Black Journalists for her article ‘Eat, Play, Love’, which was featured in the July 2011 issue of Essence magazine. The cover story chronicled her nine-month hiatus from the industry in 2010, detailing her travels with husband Jay-Z which she dubbed as a "creative reawakening." For those who might question B's authorship of the now award-wining article, Essence entertainment director Cori Murray confirmed to the New York Daily News that the piece was indeed written by the media mogul, save for a few necessary corrections. "she's a real writer," Murray says. "We had to edit her, but everyone gets edited except Toni Morrison."

Fanboys (and fangirls), the wait is almost over. The highly anticipated multihero action flick, ‘The Avengers’ is set to arrive in theatres. But for all of you who aren't familiar with the many characters in this comic book-come-to-life piece of cinema, here’s a little cheat sheet. Steve rogers/Captain America: Chris evans plays the 98-pound asthmatic who became a superhero after taking an experimental serum in the 1940s. While battling the baddie red Skull, Cap and his shield wound up frozen in the Arctic, only to be discovered and revived 70 years later. Tony Stark/Iron Man: robert Downey Jr again takes on the role of the industrialist who initially created an indestructible suit to escape from terrorists wanting him to design a weapon of mass destruction. Natasha

Salman's gift to Kabir Khan MUMBaI: Salman Khan has added his ‘Ek tha tiger’ director, Kabir Khan and his wife Mini Mathur in his best pals list. the actor showered his love by gifting them something special. Salman and Kabir have bonded well and became best friends during the shooting of ‘Ek tha tiger’. According to a unit hand, Salman is fond of Kabir and his wife and surprised them with a pair of wrist watches from Being Human's new collection. the couple loved them and felt special with Salman's gesture. Before this, Salman invited Kabir and the entire unit of ‘Ek tha tiger’ to his Panvel farm house and played the perfect host. romanoff/Black Widow: While we were originally led to believe that she was simply one of Tony Stark's assistants, it turned out that Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is actually a S.H.I.e.L.D. agent with some pretty sweet assassin skills. Bruce Banner/The Hulk: Mark ruffalo flexes his muscles as a scientist who, thanks to being exposed to gamma radiation, morphs into a giant green monster whenever he gets angry. Clint Barton/Hawkeye: Portrayed by Jeremy renner, this S.H.I.e.L.D. agent would most certainly give Katniss everdeen a run for her money in the bow-and-arrow department. Thor: Chris Hemsworth plays The God of Thunder who, while banished from Asgard by his father after some god-on-giant violence goes awry, put his exile on earth to good use by protecting it from his sinister brother Loki. Loki: Having had his plans to destroy earth thwarted by his brother, Thor, Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is back for an encore in hopes of wiping the earth off the face of the universe once and for all. Nick Fury: In a nutshell, if it wasn't for the efforts of Samuel L. Jackson's director of the international peacekeeping organisation, S.H.I.e.L.D., to bring all our heroes together, there'd be no ‘Avengers’.

nEW YORK: One of the world's most iconic masterpieces, ‘The Scream’ by edvard Munch, has sold for $119.9m, becoming the most expensive artwork ever sold at auction. The work, created in 1895, went under the hammer at Sotheby’s and was won by an anonymous telephone bidder after more than 10 minutes of tense bidding, starting at $40m. The sale beat the previous world record for the most expensive artwork sold at auction which was held by Pablo Picasso’s ‘Nude, Green Leaves and Bust’ sold at Christie’s for $106 million. The masterpiece was put on the market by Petter Olsen, a Norwegian businessman, whose family knew Munch and who have owned the portrait since the 1930s. There are four versions of ‘The Scream’ created by Munch, three of which are in museums. The version sold is considered the most sought-after of the four because it contains a poem about the work-written in the artist’s own handon the frame. ‘The Scream’ inspired tributes from other artists, including Andy Warhol. And it gave rise to the ‘Scream’ series of horror films. aGeNCIeS
