Typography Identity We Take it further by expanding its meaning, scope and applications. We work further on the different departments of the same company. This involved altering the logotype to suit the requirement of the department. The departments include jewelry, apparels, footwear and watches. A similarity had to be seen in all the four logotypes.

Typography Type Design: Aim of the project was to design a Devanagri typeface influenced by the script ‘Modi’ and learn the process of type design.

Modi was the script used to write Marathi from the 13th century till about 1950.

Typography Type Design Ideation & Conceptualisation Idea generation started based on the research done on both scripts (Modi, Devanagri). It included sketching to understand how Devanagri letterforms would look like with a ‘Modi’ influence to them. The concept shown below was finalised to work on. The main aim was to bring the Modi essence to Devanagri in terms of the flow of the letterforms and the curves, with an informal look to it.

Typography Type Design Concept exploration

Incorporating the simplified 's' curve seen in Modi letterforms.

The intention was to incorporate the loops in Devanagri without affecting readability.

The letterforms so far were sharp at the edges and angular. To bring in the Modiness to it, they had to be blunt at the edges and more curvy. Trying out variations with the same letterforms.

Typography Type Design Concept exploration

In Modi a few letterforms have drop-like stroke endings. Two alternatives emerged out of this exploration: One in which letterforms would have loopswithin them. The other one with drop-like stroke-endings. The alternative with drop-like stroke-endings was selected to work on.

Typography Type Design Design Detailing & Refining New knots were tried out.

The 'kanas' start with a curve and end with a drop. The 'kana' seen earlier seemed too round and perfect. It needed to have ink drop like form to it and hence the change.

The drops at the end of the character were also modified along with knots within letterforms seen in the letter .

Photography Street smart This project is basically my interpretation of streets through photography. Streets were essentially there to provide opportunities for people to earn their living, provide opportunities to transact, provide a channel of communication and commuting. This got me thinking so I decided to dive further and explore for myself what that really meant. I have also documented the lives of some of the people who earn their living on the streets and have complied it in the form of a book.

Proposals and concepts Information design Project Title: Information Graphics for Bus Station/Depot Problems:

- Inconsistency in signboards in terms of size, shape, colour and placement - Readability and legibility problems - Signages only in Devanagri - No Information boards informing the commuter about the bus stops and destination - A commuter doesn't know where to look for information

Need: To provide existing information in a systematic manner To provide this information where the commuter really needs it

Design Opportunities: To make existing information more comprehensible for the commuter To work on a system that would enable the commuter to find his/her way through the bus station.

Proposals and concepts Information design Reference map of M.N.P (Mahanagarpaika) Bus Station, Pune

The solution to this problem was to develop a coding system in such a way that the commuter could learn of the bus stop he needs to go to in order to catch his bus. This information would be available on information boards at specific points on the bust stop. These codes could then be put on the individual bus stops. The reason being that once the commuter identifies the bust stop and the bus taking him to his destination he should be able to locate the bus stop with the help of the codes. Simple numbering of bus stops is done here. It starts with #1 from the left side of north til #10. #11 is given to the first bus stop on the right side of south til #28. The next task was to develop a signage for each bus stop carrying the the bus route, bus stop no. and the route taken by the bus to reach the particular destination.

Proposals and concepts Information design

This is an idea of how the information board and the signage would look like. Information at this stage was made available only in English just to get an idea of the space , kind and amount of information that would find its way on the info-board. The information boards would be placed at all entry and exit points of the bus depot. That is where maximum number of people can view the boards.

Proposals and concepts Culture Tourism In India This booklet has been thought of with a motive of informing and maki ng peopl e aware of different music, dance and theater festivals in India which complete an art known as Sangeet (music). When people visit various regions in India, they are rarely exposed to this kind of culture. So this booklet can be distributed and displayed under the Incredible India banner to let people know how much more there is for them to experience in India. The booklet is easy to carry around and won't take a lot of space. It is equally informative at the same time.

Content: Region wise distribution of music based events taking place in India. Information categorised into Dance, Music and Theater festivals.

About me

I was born and raised in Pune which is considered to be the cultural capital of Maharahstra. From a young age my mother exposed me to various arts seen in and around Pune. Exposure is something that matters a lot in the field of design. After coming to Symbiosis Institute of Design I started looking at everything consciously, with a different perspective. Around the same time I decided to get back to music which I had left back in school. I felt myself learning, applying and exchanging lessons learnt in music and design. I realised the meaning and importance of inspiration from both the fields. Besides design and music I am keenly interested in photography, sports, reading. I am looking for an opportunity to prove myself, further develop myself and skills from the industry point of view and contribute to an organisation I look upto in terms of work and people who built it.
