Dear Marbut Family,

This issue of the Marbut Messenger is about those individuals who exemplify service to our school community. We appreciate the model you set for our students in your work as parents, teachers, club sponsors, and volunteers. Our school is focused on proving challenging learning experiences that will prepare our scholars for successful college pathways and/or careers that tap into their talents and interests.

I often remind our students and staff that the world expects results. We have to learn to push through obstacles, be mentally tough, be team players, and produce results that will make a difference in the lives of others. The individuals you see recognized in this issue have exemplified this willingness to work toward results through selfless acts of service.

I am proud of our Reading Bowl Team for their recent participation in the Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl. I'm also proud of our Principal's Advisory Council for their efforts to provide ongoing communication and leadership in our school community. Their commitment to staying the course is a model for us all. Champions never give up. Despite the challenges, they finish what they started. It is this spirit of resilience that provides a perfect backdrop for our celebration of Black Excellence. The struggles that Africans in America have overcome should inspire us all to be more focused and determined.

We hope you enjoy this issue and look forward to seeing you in the hallways of Marbut very soon.
