Feats Youth Intensive Each year Feats accepts applications from Alberta’s young dancers, offering them the opportunity to work with professional guest choreographers on the creation of new works. This process-focused intensive demands high levels of dedication, openness, skill and artistic investment from all its participants. The Feats Youth Intensive is a unique program that fashions genuine dance artists through the exploration of historical and contemporary movement vocabulary. The experience is not merely learning preset steps, the ensemble engages fully in the choreographic process in a safe, social setting that fosters respect, creative risk-taking and artistic acuity. The public can glimpse the captivating fruits of these labors at our Fresh Feats mainstage show, but the greatest reward is the lifelong gift of artistic literacy that Feats annually offers Alberta’s youth. If you are a dancer or know a dancer who would like to participate in next year’s Feats SPI please contact the Alberta Dance Alliance for information on how and when to apply.

This participative session is about discovery and connection with a view that the future of dance is about understanding where we are now, what has taken us here and where we want to go. We will also explore the wider impact of Alberta dance – artistically, culturally, socially and politically. Finally we ask what will Alberta dance look like in 2025. We will be focusing on both the individual and the shared vision for the future of Alberta dance.
