June 2, 2011 In an amazing under-the-gun effort, Reno Rosser and Cindy Rosser put together a very successful ABBI Classic event in Santa Maria, CA on Thursday, June 2. The event coincided with the Elk’s Prorodeo and had 25 ABBI Classic bulls enter. Breeders from California, Washington and Arizona traveled to compete in this new event. “We put this event together in a little less than a month,” said Cindy, “so we were really happy with the turn out that we got. It was nice to see Mossyrock Cattle Company come all the way down from Washington and also Desert Orchid from Arizona. We really appreciated their support.” Reno Rosser acted as event producer and worked overtime to tear down and arranged the chutes and pen. “The arena has always had a side out gate so Reno put out a lot of effort to get everything set up correctly. So the set up is super nice now with a center load and out gate which really improved bull handling.” Legendary announcer and bull pedigree visionary Bob Tallman announced and as could be expected worked double-time at selling the bulls to the crowd. “Bob of course really, really sold everyone on the bulls which was just great. Of course he was able to offer up lots of information on their genetics and what the American Bucking Bull is all about. We had a great scoreboard which displayed all the bull information and scores and also the replay. The committee was really, really impressed and happy about the event so we’d like to make it an annual event if possible with more money added in the future.” Event judges were Bill and Ralph Pacheco, Rocky Steagall and Mike Jones while bull riding event winner was DJ Stoneburner who marked a 79.50 and Ricky Hallam was 78 for second.
