Concept

Our concept is to bring BBC into the future by embracing the digital world we now live in. With an emphasis on interactivity, dynamic live updates and a purely digital user interface, with your news tailored for you.

The difference in interface between newer pages such as iPlayer compared to BBC Sport creates confusion. Our design will be uniform and standardised and functional.

We want to create a real ‘live’ feel to the website with content and news unfolding in front if you creating life. Like a shop window full of TV’s. This will be done through our LiveFeed bar.

Share and favourite articles for personal viewing and for sharing socially on your newsfeed.

Analysing the BBC Website - one of the main problems with the BBC is the inconsistency in interface and lack of movement with no real ‘life’ to the webpage.

Sharing to twitter/facebook/pinterest will be easy.

Research

When researching and analysing existing websites, very few break away from the norm and very few have any movement or any customisation. All news is the same, for everyone. Often we’ve found apps are better than their web version, with much more interactivity and considered information. We want to apply app sensibilities to web design and make both as good as each other.

Metro’s UI design implemented by Microsoft is has been acclaimed for it’s usability and forward thinking purely digital interface, we aim to take the same approach.

Brands such as Apple use a Skeumorphic which is now pretty dated and arguably disruptive rather than helpful, sacrificing usability for aesthetical appeal.
