On 15 December 2009 AAWAZ in partnership with Kehkashan providing a free Traditional Asian Meal for those who are homeless and being cared for by the Salvation Army. We may all have a nice warm place to live, and have the best tasting food filling our cupboards but not everyone is so lucky. This Christmas a number of unfortunate individuals won’t even have the basics of food and water. You may not be aware that William Booth, a former Methodist minister, formed The Salvation Army in England in 1865 Or that Like secular soldiers, the Salvation Army had to go to the most dangerous places to attack the enemy. To save the souls of the poor they carried their battle into the roughest and toughest places of British cities.
Young AAWAZ working with Hollins High School Young AAWAZ also participated in the communities through cohesion event held by Hollins High school. A qualified artist assisted the young people involved in the project and the different local agencies in attendance to create a storyboard all around communities. The end result looked outstanding; similar storyboards were being created around topics such as the world, Our Aspirations, etc. The end result after all the different topics will be made one will be showcased in a number of places, i.e. libraries so be on the lookout. The Unveiling date for the large storyboard will include a celebrity guest in attendance. So watch this space…………..
Help us make a difference.lly needed! If you are interested in volunteering or helping out in anyway contact us. Do something good this "The secret message communicated to most young people today by Christmas become a secular soldier for the society around them is that they are not needed, that the society the community! will run itself quite nicely until they - at some distant point in the future - will take over the reigns. Yet the fact is that the society is not running itself nicely... because the rest of us need all the energy, brains, imagination and talent that young people can bring to bear down on our difficulties. For society to attempt to solve its desperate problems without the full participation of even very young people is imbecile." - Alvin Toffler
YOUNG PEOPLE ARE IMPORTANT It is sometimes so easy to judge and label young people as being brash, unpredictable, sometimes unreliable, and naive. Yet we forget that we oldies will not live forever as we may desire, but that the young people so easily insulted by our mouths are actually the leaders of tomorrow. So rather than insulting and pointing out their misgivings and what they lack, we should all be aspiring to better coach them and support them in their future roles and responsibilities. Therefore we at Young AAWAZ are continuing our Leadership Programme. You as a young person should be determined yourself to look to the future with hope, and give 100% to develop yourself further. If you don’t take the first step no one else will. We at AAWAZ and other similar organisations can only do so much, take the imitative, and behave with the kind of respect you want. Don’t leave the opportunity for anyone to disgrace you and other young people
