ueenstown is the place to fill the lungs with fresh alpine air, embrace the inspiring and revitalising surroundings, max out on adventure pursuits and indulge in some seriously good wining and dining. Queenstown is often highly lauded by its well-known guests, including adventurers, filmmakers, athletes and world leaders. Is it any wonder that Queenstown is held in such high regard when it always puts on such a spectacular show?

DRAMATIC LANDSCAPES

A cycling hotspot, Queenstown and its surrounds offer a diverse range of riding opportunities, from beautiful mellow ‘coffee rides’ along the lakeside through to the thrill of the southern hemisphere’s only gondola-assisted bike ride at the Queenstown Bike Park. Cruise the vineyards or cafés or explore the high country on two of New Zealand’s Great Rides – the 2-3 day (120km) Queenstown Trail passes through Arrowtown and the Gibbston Wine Valley, taking in Lake Hayes and the Shotover and Kawarau rivers; while the Around the Mountains Cycle Trail is a 4-5 day (180km) ride from Kingston to Walter Peak, which allows cyclists to explore quiet historic areas but not be too far off the beaten track.

SURROUNDED BY THE CRYSTAL CLEAR WATERS OF LAKE WAKATIPU, QUEENSTOWN IS AT THE HEART OF A GLORIOUS MOUNTAINOUS AMPHITHEATRE AND IS CROWNED, OF COURSE, BY THE REMARKABLES AND THEIR HIGHEST PEAK, DOUBLE CONE.

This is a compact cosmopolitan town brimming with an exciting range of eateries and bars. The streets are often buzzing with live music and street theatre. Many stores are open until late and include local and international designers, myriad galleries and chic, high-end wool and leather goods. To get your bearings in this scenic wonderland, take the Skyline gondola to the top of Bob’s Peak. Take in the magical views of Lake Wakatipu and the towering Coronet, Cecil and Walter peaks before zooming back down on a thrilling luge ride.
