Message from MCP-Elect Hello to you, my potential teammate! First of all, thank you for making it into page 3 of the application package! I am sure that you are reading this now because you are thinking of having an experience of a lifetime outside of your comfort zone and excited to jump in a new and challenging environment! I was in your place about a month ago, trying to figure out which opportunity to take so I could become the leader that I want to be for the world and become one step closer to my life’s mission. With so many options around us, one really gets conflicted on which path to take but I assure you that this path will be one for the books – a story to tell your loved ones in the future. Choosing Myanmar was something I did so impulsively that I immediately fell in love with the country throughout the application process. As Myanmar welcomes itself to its new age towards globalization and modernization after a tough history under the military regime, AIESEC has never been more relevant in a country full of potential to help develop and empower the Burmese youth towards a new Myanmar. You will learn and grow here as much as Myanmar will. Will you take on the challenge with me?

About Myanmar Myanmar, was also known as Burma, was long considered a pariah state while under the rule of an oppressive military junta from 1962 to 2011. The generals who ran the country suppressed almost all dissent symbolized by the house arrest of opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi - and stood accused of gross human rights abuses, prompting international condemnation and sanctions. A gradual liberalization process has been under way since 2010. The country is expected to see a major shift when the government changes hands early in 2016. The dominance of the largest ethnic group, the Burman or Bamar people, over the country's many minorities has been fueling a series of long-running rebellions, although a gradual peace process yielded a draft ceasefire deal in 2015.
