ABOUT IMPPC From Fall 2012, Shih Hsin University will be offering a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Persuasive Communication. The International Master's Program of Persuasive Communication (lMPPC) provides an innovative blend of communication and persuasion theory and practice for individuals interested in careers and career advancement in a wide variety of profit and nonprofit organizations. The program's emphasis on both strategic and persuasive communication skills will prepare students to be socially responsible and professionally effective leaders and communicators in an increasingly complex and diverse world. IMPPC is an all-English program, aiming to equip students with the theoretical and professional competence required for persuasive communication skills, thereby enhancing effectiveness in communication in interpersonal, organizational, social, and cross-cultural contexts. Faculty members involved in this program are internationally recognized for their excellence as teachers, scholars, and program administrators. The program serves to qualify its graduates for a variety of career options such as public relations, advertising, human resources, marketing, and politics.

Courses Courses are designed to assist students in developing persuasive strategies for coping with communication problems in the workplace, and in developing persuasive messages for influencing target audiences through mass media. Sample courses are as follows:

Degree Completion Students must complete a minimum of 33 coursework hours for a Master's degree. The IMPPC is a two-year program. If required, an extension of two years is allowed for completion of the degree.
Career Possibilities With specialized interests in persuasive communication, students are expected to graduate with strong academic knowledge and the training required for the pursuit of careers in a variety of professional areas such as public relations, advertising, human resources, marketing, politics, project planning, journalism, business negotiation, and administration.
Eligibility Eligible applicants must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree and be nonTaiwanese citizens. International students who are of Chinese descent are welcome.
Admission Information In addition to the university application (e. g., application form), applicants need to submit the following materials required by the IMPPC: a statement of purpose and proof of English proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, or TOEIC scores) if applicants' native language is not English; a writing sample and letters of recommendation are encouraged.
Scholarship To encourage international students studying in Taiwan, Taiwanese government and Shih Hsin University offer many scholarship opportunities with the maximum amount of NT$30,000 per month, such as the Taiwan Scholarship and the Shih Hsin University International Students Scholarship.
