In February 2012 I long term subbed for 5 weeks in the subject of American History where I created my own lesson plans and my own assessments at Whitehall High School. Whitehall High School, Whitehall Public Schools, Whitehall, MI Intern Teacher September-December 2011 Taught Economics, World History, and Sociology to seniors and sophomores incorporating research based projects, historical inquiry, and cooperative learning. Daily teaching strategies used were KWL charts, Compare and Contrast maps, and Think-Pair-Share to spark classroom participation. On top of that I designed lesson plans to incorporate students with learning disabilities. Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts, Kalamazoo, MI Pre-Intern Teacher September-December 2010 Observed several 6th grade social studies classes where I would help design lessons with my mentor teacher. I was allowed to prepare a current events segment that tied into what students were learning at the time. I also assisted with a literacy program to help students in social studies who were behind grade level in reading.


Loy Norrix High School, Kalamazoo Public Schools, MI Tutor September-December 2009 Helped students develop better study habits at the high school level in terms of better note taking skills, attention to detail, and deciphering primary sources. RELATED EXPERIENCE Oakridge Public Schools, Muskegon, MI Assistant JV Football Coach Fall 2012 Defensive coordinator that instituted the defensive game plan each week during the nine game season. Instructed young players in proper tackling techniques, stances, and reading offensive formations. From day one demanded players to display proper sportsmanship and the appropriate representation of their school on and off the field. Oakridge Public Schools, Muskegon, MI Technology Board Member May-July 2012 Assisted with the brainstorming and planning of the 2012-2013 school year technology programs for the middle school and high school. I provided outside perspective on new technology methods including, but not limited to, Smart Boards, ELMOs, and smart phones in the classroom. Whitehall Public Schools, Whitehall, MI Assistant JV Football Coach Fall 2011 Provided instruction for the special teams in terms of effective punt and kickoff coverage as well as executing punt and kick return protection, at the same time providing young players with instruction in proper tackling and sportsmanship.
