Areas to Consider

Reasons to develop the idea

Reasons to reject the idea

How well does it meet the brief?

My first idea is technology and how over the years it has changed our lives.

I believe this topic meets the breif as

How well does it appeal to the target audience?

This topic appeals to a wide range of audience as the world we live in today is based around technology and is apart of our everyday lives. My target audience is aged from 14-40 and both male and female as this age group usually has some sort of technology which they rely on such as smart phones.

Reasons to reject this idea is the audience may already know about this topic therefore wont find this documentary useful or interesting.

How achievable is it given the timescale and your skill level?

I believe this type of documentary is achievable with the time given and also I can make it to a good level as I can get hold of different types of technology. The timescale could be a problem in some areas, in the documentary I was hoping to film an event which has all the latest gadgets (Gadget Show live) and this event may be later next year.

The timescale could be a problem as I mentioned before I would like to add some footage of an event such as the Gadget Show Live but events are usually not on during this time.

How passionate are you about the topic

I am quite passionate about this topic as technology is a big part of my life and I rely on it everyday so I can easily talk about this subject and show it from my point of view. Also I think the audience can relate to this topic as statistics show how many people carry a mobile or own a computer/laptop so they will find this topic interesting and they will see how

I am passionate about the topic but I don’t know all the types of technology and I don’t know enough information about them so if I were to choose this idea, I would have to research into more of the latest electronic devcies.

What access to experts do you think you have?

For this topic I think it will be difficult for me to get an expert as there aren't many people who are popular for technology except for people who own a brand to do with technology e.g. Bill Gates. This would be highly unlucky for me to interview as they are busy people and live abroad, but I may be able to interview a presenter from the Gadget show but again they are also busy and would be a problem.

It will be hard to get in contact with some of the big names out there and is unlikely as these people are busy and probably have little free time.

Summarise why you will develop or reject this idea? I will most likely develop this idea and expand on it as I think it is a interesting topic to talk about and the audience can relate to it.

2012

Idea One/2012

Areas to Consider

Reasons to develop the idea

Reasons to reject the idea

How well does it meet the brief?

This idea is about what may happen on the 21st December 2012 (21/12/12) and what views religions have on this day.

Reasons to reject this idea is during my filming time till the filming deadline, the 21/12/12 would have already gone which will not make my documentary very interesting as the audience will know the end result.

How well does it appeal to the target audience?

I think this topic will be interesting to the audience as they would not have heard much about this topic and it is about the world we live in so it is educational and factual. My target audience is mostly between 21-40 year olds as this age group watch's the news and news is based on what is happening around the world.

This may not appeal to the target audience as some of the audience may disagree with some of the conspiracy's or the whole thing altogether. Also they may have a religious view and may disagree with my documentary.

How achievable is it given the timescale and your skill level?

I would film what happens on the day and include it in the documentary and this day follows on the 21st of December which is in between my filming time. This could be filmed after the day as the audience won’t know. Also I think the skill level may not be as high as it may not be enough time to film.

I don’t think the documentary will be filmed in time as the date I start filming it may be to late to capture what I require. Also I will require many interviews as this will be quite a factual documentary and this may take time to arrange a date and permission.

How passionate are you about the topic

I am quite passionate about this topic as it is interesting and fascinating as the world will change from this day. Also there are multiple story's which are said to happen on they day and I find this quite fascinating as it goes into religion and science.

I would say I am passionate about this topic but not as passionate to know all the details as I have not researched this topic enough. I may reject this idea as I do not have enough knowledge on this subject.

What access to experts do you think you have?

For this topic I think it will be difficult to find an expert for this field as there aren’t too many which are well known. So I would have to find an iconic religious figure or possibly a documentary presenter who presents documentary's about the world.

For this topic I would have to find someone who knows about this day and who knows much about the world and how it works.

Summarise why you will develop or reject this idea? I may develop this idea further but most likely won’t base my documentary on this idea as the deadline for this project is after the 21/12/12 and the documentary will not be interesting as we will know the end result. But I think if I show my progress from now till then it will be an interesting, factual and entertaining documentary as it shows the build up and educates the audience about the topic and how it came about.

Tennis

Idea One/Tennis

Areas to Consider

Reasons to develop the idea

Reasons to reject the idea

How well does it meet the brief?

This topic is about Tennis and why it is not as popular as basketball and football. I believe I can develop on this idea on expand on it as its not a popular sport which the audience know to much about.

Reasons to reject this idea is it may not be a big enough topic to talk about as it is one side of the sport. The audience may not find it an interesting topic depending on how I show it.

How well does it appeal to the target audience?

I think this sport will appeal to my audience but preferably boys as sports are most popular on the male side but tennis is also a very popular female sport so it will appeal to both genders. Also it will favour between 14-30 which is a wide audience and match's the brief.

As I mentioned before it may not appeal as much to females as sport is more popular with males. Also the audience may not be interested in tennis or even sport but tennis is a global sport/hobby and is played around the world so I think it may appeal to a wide variety.

How achievable is it given the timescale and your skill level?

I think this topic is achievable over the time I have as I go tennis frequently so I can film straight away and also the footage I need would not take as long so I could finish before the filming deadline which gives me more time to edit.

With the time I have to film, I wont be able to include live footage from a tournament which is a big part of the documentary. I can not show this as Wimbledon starts in august which has already gone and the ATP Final which is November has also gone so I will not be able to attend these events and include it in my documentary.

How passionate are you about the topic

I am passionate about this topic as I do play tennis 3-4 times a week and I feel it keeps me fit, and mentally focused as the sport is known for being mentally strong. Also I know a lot about the sport and watch all the ATP tour tournaments and also the four major grand slams.

The reason to reject this judging on my passion is I may know more than the audience and I may show it in a more advanced manner which they may not understand and this will not appeal to the target audience.

What access to experts do you think you have?

I could have access to some experts as my tennis coach use to play with Tim Henman at a young age but not to sure if he has contact with him. Although wise I could get ex-professional tennis players through my club.

Getting hold of experts in this field is difficult as the people I would want to interview would be the top tennis players or even former number ones so we get an explanation from them but with Tennis tournaments happening all year round makes it difficult for me to try and interview them. Also from now till the deadline is the time these players have to prep for the Australian open. My alternative route would be to get hold of professional tennis coaches.

Summarise why you will develop or reject this idea? I may develop this idea as I think it is an interesting topic which will show the audience something they didn’t know about the sport and it educates them. Also it will notify them on how the sport is harder than it looks and how it requires much more to become a good player.
