There are 6 RCC columns at the front part of the building. They extend as an entrance vestibule.

Few window cut outs on the wall house almost identical windows. Some have a cill band protrusion.

Flooring is mostly done by kota stones ranging 450 * 300

The classroom has three distinct spaces to accomodate distinct methods of learning. The programme and the rectilinear plot directed the design underground. The movement of users is curated through the folded plate staircase hovering above a large volume below.

above seen is a 1:5 working model that explains the mechanisms that allow manual expansion of space. the three pulleys placed in the geometry of an equilateral triangle control the arms that push out/ pull in the space. these pulleys are opeated by chain sprockets that are manually operated through the handwheel by the user. the semicircular arcs created by the two pulleys that control the arms are vernacular to the architecture of Delhi. the effort required to pull the roof and floor plates is halved by controlling the arms at these points rather than the end point of the plates. thus the mechanism causes 5 planes of enclosure to extend out by the whim of a hand movement. the facing page shows how the louvers become shades and seating as well when necessary.


Variables that make up the space of the city were identiied. Once identiied, variables such as urban network, physical, social, cultural, political, historic and economic factors were used to generate a digital and physical model containing photographs and maps

Although it is the slowest of senses, it has a sparate memory mechanism of its own and spa recent studies go as far as to suggest that the limbic system itself grew out of the olfactory bulb. In Rachel Herz’s view, who is both a psycholog-ist and a cognitive neuroscientist, the ability to experiene and express emotion grew directly out of the brain’s ability to process smell.

Our odor memory improves by familiarity and identiiablility and such odor memory links are known as “the Proust phenomenon”. smells can be identiied as warning signals, attractive, indicative of change, as an evidence of activity, a memory or the location of a thing. The cartography explores my choices made in moving through space upon reception and processing of sensorial transmitters and it is carried out by the making of smell contours.

The medieval village of Chanderi was visited as a part of our related study programme, in which Chanderi’s typical architectural elements , proportions, lifestyle was documented extensively.


The intricate craftsmanship and traditional looms were studied and understood as a part of this endeavour. Drawings that represent their lifestyle and daily activities were produced.
