*Community Relations – I have one new request for this month. Contact: Toby M Jaramillo, Firefighter/EMT Socorro Fire Department 505-550-3028 email: tmeej@yahoo.com He is wondering if anyone would be willing to bring a hot air balloon to their Christmas parade on December 5th, 2015 in Socorro. The Socorro Fire Department is setting up an event to raise money for less fortunate children during the holiday season and thought it would be nice to have a hot air balloon for everyone to enjoy. *Flying Events – November 2015 Flying Event November’s flying event took place at the Rio Rancho Launch Field on Saturday November 14th. Fifty Five (56) pilots signedin and six pilots scored on the Hare & Hound task. Thanks to Mike for delivering the target to its placement just south of Puesta Del Sol Elementary School. *Community Partner In the spirit of Thanksgiving our community partner for November is St. Felix Pantry in Rio Rancho. Thanks to the generosity of our members we will be donating $100 to help feed those most in need this holiday season. http://www.stfelixpantry.org/ Next Flying Event Our next and final flying event of the year will be the Jingle Bell event at Balloon Fiesta Park on Saturday and Sunday December 19 & 20, 2015. Registration will be 6:15-6:45 at the Sid Cutter Pavilion each day. Reminder, to accommodate a prestigious track and field event at Balloon Fiesta Park, Jingle Bell Rally is a week later this year than our normal schedule. AAAA 2015 Awards Banquet Once again we will be holding the AAAA Awards Banquet at Club Rio Rancho on January 9, 2016 from 6pm until 10pm. Tickets are $20.00 per person in advance, $25 per person at the door. Come enjoy a full dinner, cash bar, beautiful setting, silent auction, prize drawing, awards to the top 20 pilots, and Crew-D and other Awards! See attached flyer… *Special Events - We will be doing our annual toy drive at the November general meeting this year as Jingle Bell is one

weekend later and therefore will miss the Toys for Tots deadline. I am preparing an email for a blast later this week and will be posting on Facebook to remind people to bring toys to the meeting. We will still accept toy donations at the rally and donate them to a worthy organization if we are unable to get them to the Toys for Tots center. Thank you to Dave Eichhorn for his helping orchestrating this. Plans for Jingle Bell are underway. All events will be taking place at the Sid Cutter Pavilion this year. The Chile cook off will return and we are in the process of finalizing our judges. After sending our merchandise selections out to bid, TShirts and Things will once again be doing our embroidery. Friends and Lovers pilot applications have gone out and we have received 3 back already! We are actively looking for sponsors, so if you know of anyone, please have them contact me. Sponsorship information also went out in the Cloudbouncer, however if you need the information let me know and I will email it to you. We need monetary as well as in-kind donations.

AAAA General Meeting minutes from Tuesday November 24, 2015 President called to order at 6:29PM with a welcome to all attendees, and our congratulations to William Fitzpatrick for receiving his private pilot certification. We had no guests or Ballooning in the Community noted this evening. At this time the meeting was turned over to Blair to introduce our guest speakers, Keith and Michelle Lutz on their trip to Annonay, France this past summer. Keith and Michelle highlighted their presentation with the history of Annonay and its roots in ballooning. They included many pictures from their trip as they toured the various sites of ballooning history, including pictures of the paper mill where the first

balloon was made and is to this day a working paper factory. Following the presentation the board was called to order: President (Craig) – Nominations are open. Vice-President (Blair) – January program still being worked on. Secretary (Sue) – Welcome to our new members; Jeremiah Dodson and Shannon Moore, from Albuquerque. Thank you to the Balloon Museum for their graciously provided cookie plate at our meeting, they were definitely well received by our attendees. Treasurer (Dick) – Pie charts will be in the Cloudbouncer. Flying Events (Keith) – Report will be in the Coludbouncer. Special Events (Charity) – Report will be in the Cloudbouncer. Community Relations (Ursula) – Report will be in the Cloudbouncer. Ways & Means (Michelle) – El Sarape, located at 5025 Central Ave, will be our next Happy Hour on December 1st . More information on the last Happy Hour will be in the Cloudbouncer. Education (Tom) – Private Pilot Ground School is set to go in February. Crew Development (Dave) – Report will be in the Cloudbouncer. Special Events - Carry Over…

Jingle Bell -- December 19 & 20 (NOTE THE LATER WEEKEND THIS YEAR) Pilot briefing and indoor tailgating will take place at the Sid Cutter Pavilion. Registration will begin at 6:15 with briefing following. We will once again be having the Chile Cook Off -- registration is NOT required, but you must be present to serve the judges. Judging will begin after flying -- about 9:30AM. This may get pushed a little later depending on how many people are able to make it back by that time, but please plan on being back to the Pavilion around 9:30. There will be 3 prizes -- 1st place, Honorable Mention and Crowd Favorite. Each pilot who signs in will receive one voting ticket and additional voting tickets will be for sale. Friends and Lovers -- February 13 & 14, 2016

The entire event will take place at the Sid Cutter Pavilion this year. There will be no off site activities -- we will be having the welcome reception and the awards brunch in the Pavilion and are very excited about it! Applications for Friends and Lovers will be in the November and December Cloudbouncers. Applications are due BACK (NOT POSTMARKED) by January 15, 2016. This is to ensure we have enough time to get the shirts for the pilots made. Late applications may be accepted, but shirt size cannot be guaranteed after that date. As always, we are looking for donations of the monetary and in kind varieties. Friends and Lovers is our largest event and it takes quite a few dollars to put on. Any donations are appreciated -- In kind donations mean less money we have to spend in order to provide prizes and monetary donations help us to offset the costs of renting the location and providing food at the parties. Sponsorship information will be available at the October meeting or by contacting Charity at specialevents@hotairballooning.org.

We are still looking for folks interested in serving on the board of directors. Serving on the board is a great way to directly make a difference in the quality of our club, as well as have the opportunity to meet lots of new people and have a lot of fun. Members of the board are elected to two year terms with half of the seats up for election each year. This spring we will be voting for the president, treasurer, education, flying events, and crew development board seats. If you would like more information about the responsibilities of any of these you can consult the bylaws and operating rules on the AAAA web site, www.hotairballooning.org, by clicking on About Us, then clicking on Officers & Board, then clicking on the links for those documents on the left side of the page. You can also ask Diana Gilson or anyone else on the nominations committee or ask the people who currently serve or previously served on the board to get their feedback on what is involved. At our November flying event we had a landowner relations issue with the Rio Rancho Schools that worked out ok in the end but which generated a request for a better process in the future. First off, please try not to land behind a locked gate at any of the Rio Rancho Schools. If you do, please do not take apart the fence or the gate to retrieve your balloon. You can call Pat Dyer of Rio

Rancho Schools at 505-975-0588 and he will assist you in getting access. If you can’t get ahold of Pat, then Kim Vessely has graciously offered to be an alternate contact at 505-270-0255. Please keep in mind that Kim is not acting in any official manner between balloonists and the schools, she is simply an active AAAA member offering to help with contacts, so be nice to her and keep in mind that she might not have come out to fly that morning and may still be in bed asleep. The schools are one of the largest landowners in Rio Rancho so please help us maintain good landowner relations with them. Finally, but certainly not least-ly, congratulations to Albuquerque balloon pilot and active AAAA member Judy Nakamura who was appointed by the governor to the New Mexico Supreme Court. Judy has invited all AAAA members to join her for the official swearing in ceremony which will be held December 11 at 4:00 p.m. at the Sid Cutter Pilot Pavilion. It’s rare for the swearing in to take place outside of Santa Fe so please join in this special opportunity. I’ll see you on the launch field. Safe landings! Craig
