AAAA Board Meeting Minutes June 16, 2014 Meeting was called to order by President Craig Pendleton at 6:00pm Members in Attendance – Craig Pendleton, Peter Cuneo, Diana Rutz, Dick Rice, Tom Fisher, Amanda Molina, Charity Blanchard Absent: Michelle Lutz, Keith Lutz, David Eichhorn
Secretary report –New members applications for the first half of 2014 were presented for approval of the board. Dick motioned to approve all applications and Peter motion to second the request. Motion was passed by board vote. Treasurer’s report – Dick will be emailing the financial reports as he has just arrived home from Ireland. Vice President’s report – Chris Perez from PNM will be our June presenter he will discuss power line safety. Peter is still working on a presenter for July, If you have
June Flying Event 32 pilots registered for our June Event at the Rio Rancho launch field. Unfortunately, fast winds aloft to the northeast and a forecast for surface winds to increase rapidly throughout the morning caused a cancellation of the days event. We raised $96 for the Road Runner Foodbank. Next Flying Event Our next flying event is Sunday, July 13 at Balloon Fiesta Park. Registration is 5:30 am – 6:00 am. Scorers are needed to help with this event. Our community partner for the July event will be Paws and Stripes, a Rio Rancho nonprofit organization providing service dogs for wounded military veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injury through integrating service dog training and mental health treatment plans. http://www.pawsandstripes.org/
Community Relations – Amanda has not received any request this month. We did not have any new community requests over the past month
Crew Development- David was absent Trying to pick the top crews starting at July’s AAAA flying event Cook-off And Launch in 20, 15 or 10
Education â€“ Currently there are six people registered for the Instructor refresher being held on 06/28. If you are interested in assisting the education committee in teaching classes please contact a member of the committee. Seeking additional Instructors The education committee is seeking people interested in being instructors or support people for the various education events. Beginning planning of the Fiesta Safety Seminar The food vendor has been selected as well as the location. Working on the instructors at this time. Ways and Means â€“ Michelle was absent Isotopes night is August 3. Tickets will be sold for $8. They will be available for purchase at the June general meeting Next Happy Hour is July 1 at Kelly's Brew pub in Nob Hill. We will have our own reserved area and they will be giving the club 20% back from our purchases. Orders for AAAA balloon t-shirts are now being taken. The five remaining pilots who need to approve art work have been contacted about approving their balloon design with T-shirts & Things so we can move forward with production. Roster is almost there. It will be available for distribution in July. Special Events â€“ August 23rd the special events committee will be hosting the annual
AAAA Picnic. The picnic will be held at the Coronado Camp Ground. The committee is also in the early stages of planning for Jingle Bell and Friends and Lovers. The planning for the Summer Picnic is underway. The date is August 23 at Coronado Campground in Bernalillo. We will have fun activities for ALL ages (Note: Please bring small bills to the event.) We are working on getting the meat, buns and condiments donated and are asking the membership to please bring a dish. We are also asking for cake and/or pie donations as well as volunteers to man (or woman!) the grill in 15 minute increments. We are very excited about this event and hope to have a lot of attendees. Please email SpecialEvents@hotairballooning.org to RSVP so we know how much food to get. We are in the beginning stages of planning this year's Jingle Bell and next year's Friends and Lovers. We have not yet gotten any feedback from the membership on things they would like to see at these 2 events -- we really do want to hear your ideas and suggestions!!!! Giving us feedback does NOT mean you have to be on the planning committee -- we are committed to making these events reflections of our membership and what you would like to see matters to us!
Old Business: Dick motioned to purchase the insurance as quoted by the Shantz agency. Peter seconded the motion, motion passed by board vote. New Business: Charity motioned to adjust the budget for the Picnic by $150.00 to cover parking charges. Dick seconded the motion, motion was passed by board vote.

Ways and M eans – The roster will be going to print in July. Tickets for the upcoming Isotope’s game will be for sale at the June meeting. Next happy hour will be at Kelly’s brew pub on Central July 1, 2014
Special Events The Annual AAA picnic will have some changes this year. First the picnic will begin later in the day. There will be a cake walk if you would like to donate a cake please see charity. Also there will be a lot of activities for adults and children.
Community Relations – – Amanda was absent her report will be in the Cloudbouncer. Refer to the Board meeting minutes.
Education – The instructor refresher will be held on June 28 at the Fiesta Offices registration starts at 12:45 the committee is hard at work on the 2014 Fiesta safety seminar.
Crew Development – Crew D will be hosting the annual tailgate cook off at the July flying event; there will also be a contest on assembly of balloon for launch. Please contact David for more information.
The June flying event was cancelled due to the weather. July’s flying event will be held on July 13 at Balloon Fiesta Park. Standings will be posted on the website.
Happy summer! It’s hot outside! Our club committees are continuing to plan some great events over the summer. Watch the Cloudbouncer, the AAAA website, and the AAAA Facebook page for details about happy hours, picnics, Isotopes games, great classes, and flying events which are going to start offering crew competitions in addition to the pilot competitions.
