If the board chooses to invest in a updated version of access he will also volunteer to help with any data entry to get it up and going. Treasurer’s report – Dick presented the board with the 2013 budgets for the AAAA education foundation and AAAA Budget. Discussion was had as several line items as board asked Dick to clarify. Colleen motioned to have the budget approved motion was seconded by Peter board voted budget is approved. Dick has also received a new credit card machine as we have changed credit card processing companies. We will no longer use Merchant Services we will now be using TYSY as they offered us a better deal which save the club money on this monthly expense. Dick was able to get the new credit cards machine free of charge from TYSY. Vice President’s report – Jim Renolds with the national weather service will be the speaker at Mays general meeting. Peter has signed the contract with the Cooperage for the bars starting in July when the monthly meeting moves to the Balloon Museum. The balloon museum is still working on getting privacy screens to cut the glare down from the windows in the area we will be having our meetings.

Flying Events – Keith has been asked when we will be having the AAAA Ice Cream Social as he was not aware of it. Discussion was had on the past ice cream socials and how it worked. June is being considered as a good month but no final decision was made at this time. Decembers Flying Event/Jingle Bell Rally will need to be moved to the weekend of December 15-16, 2012. As the prior weekend is booked at fiesta field, Keith has spoken with the board of Top Gun and they will be going us on Sunday the 15th for a CO-Flying event with the Club. The flying events committee is contemplating moving all the 2013 flying events to Fiesta Field as there have been multiple complaints about the flying area in Rio Rancho.

Community Relations – Jennifer was absent Crew Development- Received a last minute candidate for Balloon Camp, Erin Bair was chosen as she is a very qualified candidate. Crew Development Committee would like to make a donation to the Abruzzo Foundation to support Nancy in her endeavor to bring ballooning into the Albuquerque public schools. Nancy herself goes to the schools and gives a presentation to the kids were she incorporated ballooning and the science of ballooning to educate the children. The committee believes this will fall into the Youth Ballooning budget in which they feel they can afford to make the donation. July Crew Development will be facilitating the Tail Gate Cook Off at the July Flying Event. More information will be in the Cloudbouncer. Education – Garry was absent Ways and Means – The 2012 AAAA pin has arrived pins will be available for purchase at all the upcoming meetings and flying events. We have also just received our shipment of AAAA Coozies , we have one for bottles and one for cans they will also be available for purchase at the upcoming meetings and flying events. The next AAAA happy hour will be on May 29th at Il Vicino 10701 Coors Blvd. NW Il Vicino will be giving the club 20% of all the revenue generated by customers who have our flyers for the entire day of the 29th.

Special Events –The club picnic will be on July 7, 2012 this will be a potluck style picnic like last year. The club will provide water and the meats for the BBQ. We will be having the picnic at the Coronado State Park there are camp sites available please contact Colleen or Coronado State Park for further information on reserving a camp area for the night or the weekend. We will be reserving Fiesta on the Green for the Jingle Bell Rally so that we will be able to have inside tailgates as we did at the Friends and Lovers rally. Old Business – John Hofer and the Flying events committee are on the final editing stage of the Revised Waiver. IMC Application: Mike will be touching base with Elisa Trillanes for the status of this item. Code of Conduct forms new Board Members: Diana has received forms from Craig Pendleton, Keith Lutz, Dick Rice. Computer for Secretary: Pat Chando researched computer and database software. He has found three computers that are in the price range to fit our needs. All three specs were presented the tech savvy board members went over the specs of each computer and the replacement recommendation was for the Sony Vaio EG2 series VPCEG21FX/B 14 inch screen 2.1 ghz Pentium , 4 gig ram, 500 gig hdd, win7, for $499.99 plus tax, shipping and set up. We will also need to purchase Office 2010 with Access. Colleen motioned that the club purchase this computer for the secretary position. Motion was seconded by Keith Board Voted Motion to purchase the Sony Vaio for the Secretary Passes. Pins and patches for new members packs should be ready Dick will be going back to the vendor to pick them up. New Business – Mike was given an abundance of Cloudbouncer Pins with the other items from the prior president Elisa. Mike would like to give these pins to Ways and Means to sell for a minimal price or use as raffles. Motion to give these pins to ways and means was given by Peter and motion was seconded by Diana Board voted motion passed. Summer Balloon Camp with the City of Albuquerque – The Board cannot authorize the club name to be associated with this function due to our bylaws. The city charges the kids to participate in this summer camp and we can participate in events of this nature. Colleen will participate on her own with volunteers to help the city with this event but

she will do it on her own not for the club. She has volunteers willing to help her out with this event. Keith requested that at a future board meeting that we invite the Parliamentarian to help clarify some of the bylaws.

MembersI just wanted to fill you all in on some great AAAA events coming up. Have you all seen what the Ways & Means committee has been putting together? Let’s see, the member happy hours at different locations around the city, such as “The Press Club,” “Nexus Brewery,” and most recently “Il Vicino.” The biggest one coming up is the AAAA night of Baseball, AUG 5th , for $7.00. If you ask me that is like the good ole days when going to a game didn’t cost you an arm and a leg! Keep your eyes peeled for more info! Second, Colleen and the special events committee are working hard in putting together the “AAAA Picnic” at the Coronado State Park on JULY 7th . AAAA is providing the meat! Bring your favorite side dish to share. Last year was very fun; I look forward to this year’s picnic. If you are interested in camping make sure to contact Colleen. Crew Development was able to send someone to BFA balloon camp in Michigan, Miss Erin Bair, Ray and Carol Bair’s granddaughter. We look forward to hearing about the camp.

Here are some of the great things that we are putting together outside of ballooning hours! I hope to see everyone at one of these events! Next month I will be writing about my experience in flying Temecula, CA. Remember if you have any suggestions for AAAA please feel free to contact me. Mike Casa de Rey Church has requested a balloon stand up for their vacation bible school. The theme this year is "the sky" and they would like for a hot air balloon to do a stand up at their church in the morning on July 11th. The church is located at Coors/I40 area. Reimbursement for propane. If interested please contact me. Thank you, Jennifer Greenwood The location for the AAAA Monthly Meeting is CHANGING Starting with the Tuesday, July 24 meeting, the new location will be the Pugash Room of the Albuquerque Anderson Albuquerque International Balloon Museum. The meeting will still start at 6:30 pm and there will still be a full bar, catered by the Cooperage. Food and drink will not be allowed outside the meeting room. The Board is very excited with the Museum's kind offer to host our meetings and enhance the cooperation of these two Albuquerque ballooning organizations. Please make a special effort to come and help inaugurate this partnership at the July meeting. The May and June meetings will remain at the MCM Elegante.

Our May flying event was cancelled due to weather. Unfortunately, after a weather hold on the field. Winds were still changing and there was some inclement weather in the area. Our June flying event is on Saturday June 9. Registration is 5:30 AM with pilot brief at 06:00 AM at the Rio Rancho field. An ice cream social is in the works for this year. Flying Events still needs volunteer scorers and committee members. Please let Keith Lutz know or email flying-events@hotairballooning.org.

Happy Hour Thank you Johnathan and the Albuquerque Press Club for providing a wonderful Happy for the group last month. The food was great the atmosphere is wonderful and the prizes you gave us for the raffle were amazing. We look forward to having many more events at the Press Club. Tuesday May 29th Happy Hour is at Il Vicino @6pm, Westside location. They will be donating some grand raffle prizes. You are also welcome to donate a raffle item. The get together will be at the Westside location, on the corner of Coors/Corrales Rd. and Alameda in the sunflower shopping plaza. Food, beer and wine. We will get 20% back from them. Bring your entire crew!! Il Vicino is also donating 20% of the proceeds of your bill back to AAAA for the day at 2 locations. Westside and Nobb Hill. This is a great new relationship we have with Il Vicino, they are very excited be a supporter of the ballooning community! Isotopes Baseball Game We have plans to go to an Isotopes Baseball game on Sunday August 5th for a 6:05 game. Tickets are being sold at a discount rate of $7.00 each. Please pre-pay for the tickets when you

sign up. Last chance to order tickets will be at the June flying event. Tickets will be given out at all July AAAA events.

Landowner Relations Notice This one should have been common sense, but since it actually happened, the Homeowners Association representative has asked for chase vehicle access to be clarified: Please do not drive chase vehicles onto the grass park (Los Pablanos Orchards) in the middle of the houses to the west of the Los Pablanos Open Space. (North of Montano & east of Rio Grande) Except for a small section next to a vacant lot, the park is totally fenced and barricaded to vehicle traffic. Next to the vacant lot you still have to drive across the landscaping and sprinkler heads to get into the grass park area. If you do land in the park, which is discouraged but not completely banned, you will need to walk your equipment out. As a reminder, do not drive vehicles anyplace in Albuquerque that has grass, except sometimes Fiesta Park. There is even a city ordinance against it. Grass or anything that grows a nice green color is too hard to grow here and shouldn’t have vehicle traffic.

Double Eagle AWOS Since the Double Eagle weather isn’t available by phone once the tower opens, I called them to see if it was possible to have it available both by aircraft radio and by phone after 6 am. The tower personnel told me the system is incompatible with having them both on, but if balloonists wanted to get weather by phone, they could call the tower at 3525595 and get a real- time weather update from them on current conditions at the airport.

Congratulations to this year's Crew Development BFA Balloon Camp Scholarship awardee, Erin Bair! We know you will put your camp experience to good use as crew and as a soon-to-be pilot. The Crew Development Committee will again be putting on a Crew Tailgate Cook-off after the July flying event. Stay tuned for categories, rules, and other details next month.

P&R has fenced the Vista del Norte property to control access. Questions have come up about access for balloon landing/ launching and possible neighborhood access. To allow landings and launchings we are going to use a similar locking approach as during the Balloon Fiesta. P&R will install combination locks with the code set to 2012. Please let the balloon community know about this. Also, please remind them to lock the gate after using the area....
