If you’re looking for a hidden jewel in the Rehoboth area, look no further than Hillside Country Club. Their brand new Italian restaurant, La Collina, is the perfect spot for dinner with the family or date night with the hubby. Avoid all the chain restaurants on Routes 1, 6 & 44 and take the short drive to the quiet residential road of Hillside Avenue. Its central location is convenient for anyone in the Seekonk, Rehoboth, Dighton and Attleboro vicinity. Since going to La Collina only a few days after they opened, I am already looking forward to my next visit. Under new ownership, the building has gone through a complete transformation. The atmosphere is upscale but comfortable throughout the dining room and lounge. I think it was a nice touch to have it decorated for the holidays without going overboard. Johnson & Wales Culinary graduate, Derek Morse, is serving up quite an impressive menu to top it all off. I can honestly say that I finished 3 whole courses without any leftovers. That never happens! We started off with the Roasted Corn Vegetable Soup and Mixed Bruschetta. I love bruschetta and it’s something I often make while entertaining at home, but I have never had it served three ways before. The large crostini’s were served alongside the classic tomato/garlic pairing as well as marinated 72

diced mushrooms and roasted beets. Next I had the Gorgonzola filet while my fiancé ordered the Baked Stuffed Haddock LaCollina. The steak was perfectly cooked and literally melted in my mouth. And the Haddock was generously stuffed with whole shrimp and scallops. No matter what side dish your entrée comes with, make a request to pair it with their cheese risotto. It might be the best I have ever had. If you can even believe it, we finished off the meal with a slice of Ricotta Cheesecake. It had a layer of lemon curd, fresh raspberries and the hazelnut/ cookie crust was amazing. We were lucky enough to also be invited to their grand opening the following week. This gave us the opportunity to see the place in action. There was live music and a tasting menu served hors d'oeuvre style by a polished yet friendly wait staff. I couldn’t take my eyes off the stunning chandeliers hung throughout the ballroom. It would definitely be a place to consider for a wedding or formal event.
