Ionization is a technology for effective air improvement used for many different issues and concerns, ranging from removing odours in garbage rooms to air purifiers for home environments. Jonex devices are specially designed ionisation units inten ded to work practically on construction sites, in factories, and workshops or other demanding environments.
Jonex ionizers are an advancement of previous ionisation devices on the Nordic market. Our new units have monitoring and control capabilities, a higher level of ionization and ionization tubes with much longer lifetimes. The micro-process operated control panel has new timer functions and indicators that shows device health, when it is time to check & change filters and ionization tubes. The new units are available in three models, all with the option of different levels of ionization and air flow.
Jonex removes airborne potentially harmful particles by ioniza tion. Jonex’s positive and negative ions clump together micro particles that fall to the ground, breaks down volatile organic compounds and removes static electricity from the air. The io nization provides a better balance of ions which has documen ted added health benefits comparable to fresh outdoor air.

The ionization process provides a better air quality at work and covers a wider range of pollutants compared to a tradi tional air purifier with a Hepa H13 filter. Jonex does not pri marily clean through filtration - the filters in Jonex are mainly available to protect the inside of the unit.
purification with Jonex instead means that the pollutants are caught mid-air and reduce the level of invisible micro particles - particles that usually stay swirling around in the
air and thus are very difficult to capture with traditional air cleaning technologies.
micro dust, including quartz and stone dust, wood dust, metal dust, pollen, etc. are affected by ionization. In addition, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), smoke, foul-smelling gases, mould spores, exhaust fumes, bacteria and viruses, etc. are reduced.
A bipolar ionization unit supplies negative and positive ions to the indoor air.
An ion is an atom or molecule that has an electrical charge, meaning it has more or fewer electrons in comparison to protons. The negative ions attract positively charged partic les and cause the particles to bind to nearby objects. When

Unlike a HEPA filter, ionization has an effect on all types of particles down to molecular size. In addition, the bipo lar supply of ions leads to a better balance in the air - so mething that research has shown has positive health effects.

The extremely fast and efficient cleaning of the air means that the work can be performed more efficiently and with fewer interruptions. The decontamination after completion of work can be done quickly and at a lower cost. The finest dust particles- which is also the most dangerous - normally remains in the air for a very long time.
With Jonex, dust settles on the floor and does not swirl up but stays there. In addition, the ionization results in signi ficantly lower noise levels and lower costs through easier handling, lower filter consumption, fewer and simpler clea nings and lower power consumption compared to traditional air cleaners.
With our ionisation units, we add a small amount of ozone in the two highest ionization positions. The level that Jonex works with is about the same as the one found naturally in fresh air. The small amount of ozone helps Jonex to effectively clean the
air from viruses, bacteria and mould spores. Organic pollutants are broken down and disturbing odours are reduced. An elevated ozone level is felt by the air starting to smell of chlorine - long before the ozone approaches harmful levels.

A traditional air cleaner with Hepa filters can normally catch most of the dust. The problem is that the finest particles - those that remain in the air for a long time - are not always caught by the filter material. These are particles that are so small that they are not visible - possibly you can perceive them as an indefinable smell.
The picture shows the average size of different particles compared to a human hair, but many of these particles can be much smaller in size. The smallest particles get further down into the lungs and stay there. If you are exposed to fine dust for a long period of time, the risk of various lung diseases increases. Ionization has documented abilities to purify the air from many of these particles.
There are a number of scientific studies that confirm the bene ficial effects of ionization. Some studies that show how quickly and to what extent ionization removes pollutants from the air - in particular how well the smallest particles are removed.
These studies have been carried out with several different types of ionisation units, including ionisation units intended for home use.
There are also studies that show the benefits the negative ions have on health. Ionization provides the same beneficial health effects as clean and fresh outdoor air. Among other things, a study by WESTRA, which for six years at eight diffe
rent workplaces was able to show reduced environmental stress, reduced sick days, fewer general stress symptoms and increased well-being and productivity.
The consequences of a dusty work environment have received increasing attention in recent years.
Regulations from the Swedish Work Environment Authority; Quartz and stone dust in the work environment (AFS 2015: 2) has a clear focus on preventive measures with requirements
for documented risk assessments and a choice of preventive measures. It usually takes between ten and thirty years after you have started to be exposed to quartz dust before the silicosis occurs. The very earliest stage of the disease can be difficult to detect, even with X-rays.
Respirable quartz particles that are so small that they are not visible to the naked eye are very dangerous. The body cannot get rid of the particles that reach all the way into the alveoli and are encapsulated in the connective tissue so that the volume and ability of the lungs to absorb oxygen gradually decreases.
When the damage has become more widespread, you become more easily out of breath, eventually even at rest. Then the load on the heart also increases. Another disease that can be associated with qu artz-containing dust is COPD, which also increases the risk of lung cancer.
The employer is responsible for ensuring that employees are not injured. Risk assessments must be made for jobs with a risk of quartz dust.
The entirety of the work must be reviewed including ma terials as well as protective equipment to prevent workers from the risks of being exposed to quartz dust.
There are also rules about medical check-ups for those who work with quartz. (Quartz - stone dust in the work environment AFS 2015: 2)

Extremely dusty air after drilling and cutting in a concrete floor.
The air is heavily polluted by the most dangerous quartz dust.
The fine dust is almost impossible to catch in an ordinary air cleaner.
The same workplace after finishing work and fifteen minutes of ionization.
No air cleaner other than Jonex has been used.
The dust is settled on the ground and can be swept up or vacuumed without becoming airborne again.
Cleaning can be started quickly, and the surrounding environment is protected by the ions for several hours after finishing work.
Jonex ionizes and joins the smallest particles until they become larger and quickly gets so large that they fall to the floor and stay there.
For extra efficient air purification can you, especially in larger rooms, advantageously supplement Jonex with a traditional air cleaner.
With the help of traditional air cleaners, you can control the air flows for optimal air purification and reduced dust dispersion to surrounding surfaces and spaces.
In addition, ionization with Jonex makes particles large enough to be easily captured in the filter of the air cleaner. Of course, it is possible to use several Jonex units for best results in larger premises.
The renovation work could continue in the store during opening hours without the need for wrapping or other screens.
In a large room where several workers are completing different tasks, you can create an ionized, circulating, air flow by having Jonex units directed towards the centre of the room. The return air flow is created by air scrubbers with air hoses directed along the walls.
Our previous models are in use by a large number of compa nies in various industries. Partly as an aid for a cleaner working environment but also to prevent dust from spreading and soiling during demolition and renovation work in sensitive
environments. Jonex is also used to remove disturbing odors during mold and fire remediation as well as various painting work, but also in completely different industries where there are problems with dust and odors.
Previously, we used ordinary dust traps, but this is ten times better. All the dust settles on the ground.
- We were able to avoid spreading the dust in the store… the customer continued to sell goods right next to where we work.
- We can work safely and much faster than with conventional equipment.
- I think ionization should be used by more people - it’s just a matter of learning how it works.
- It feels very good that my employees think that the new machines have improved their working environment.
- The new machine makes a big difference and has quickly became popular.
Forming oxygen ions by technical means is something that man has imitated from nature’s own way of purifying the air. When the sun’s rays passing through the atmosphere they ionize the oxygen in the air and then changes the number of electrons in the outer shell of oxygen.
An example of how we ourselves can feel the impact of the air is how it feels during a storm. Before the storm, the concentration of positive ions in the air increases. It feels oppressive and the air feels bad.
During the actual weather outbreak, the concentration of negative ions in the air increases sharply and the positive ions decrease.
The air then feels fresh and clean. Similar elevation of negative ions we can experience near a waterfall. That is why we call the negative ions the vitamins of the air. An increasing number of researchers see a positive correlation between the number of negative ions and an increase in our oxygen uptake capacity as well as our general well-being.
