Director’s Corner Greetings! 2016 was an eventful year for the library. In January, we stopped charging a fee for borrowing any of our DVDs. Due to a small shrub fire, we were forced to close for most of April. The library staff and Board of Trustees worked tirelessly to ensure the library reopened as soon as possible. In June, we celebrated the 50th anniversary of municipal library service to the community with a day-long celebration. Our Summer Reading Program consisted of all new performers and events, even concluding with a day of miniature golf! In October, the Friends of the Library held their second successful book sale since the group reformed last year. So what’s next? I hope that some of you will join us at the upcoming Township Committee meeting on Wednesday, December 7th, at 7:00 p.m., when Mayor Neely will be honoring those library patrons that have completed our “50 Years, 50 Books” Challenge. It’s not too late for you to complete the Challenge as well. Information can be found at the checkout desk. Additionally, we have already begun planning an exciting year of programming for 2017, beginning with “Keep This, Toss That!” in January. I hope to see many of you there. Happy Holidays!

Food for Fines Continues As a courtesy to our patrons, we will continue to accept non-perishable food items in lieu of fines for books overdue since September of 2016 (DVDS excluded). Patrons may bring in one new canned good/non-perishable item for each overdue book being returned. Only non-expired and clean items will be accepted. The food items will be distributed to needy families in the community and will be accepted until December 31st.

Did you know that audiobooks on Playaways® can be connected to your vehicle’s radio? Connector cables are now available for purchase at the checkout desk for $5 each.
