RUMWORTH NEWSLETTER JUNE 2012 Deane Road traffic operation success During April, the Rumworth Policing Team carried out a traffic operation in partnership with the Road Policing Unit and Bolton Council’s Environmental Enforcement team. The operation focused on traffic related matters on Deane Road (between Tesco Express and College Way) in response to concerns from the community regarding two recent fatal road traffic collisions. Another local concern was misuse of the bus lane. 145 fixed penalty notices were issued. The main offences were using mobile phones whilst driving, not wearing seat belts, and driving in the bus lane on that stretch of road. Eight vehicles were seized for having no insurance or licence, three arrests were made, and seven summonses were issued for a range of traffic offences. Several scrap metal carriers were stopped and thoroughly checked, and all proved to be in order. To report traffic offences contact the Rumworth policing team on 01204 665 212 or 07833239368.
