Post-production occurs after the actual footage is shot on location. Documentary filmmakers, and science filmmakers will have a slightly different process in post-production than large hollywood productions. Yet, most of the difference is simply because the scale is slightly smaller. The following workflow, is more or less what every documentary filmmaker does when working up a piece in post-production. We’ll highlight each of these steps in more detail in the following sections, but this serves as a quick overview. Christian Church is an ecclesiological term generally used by Protestants to refer to the church invisible, and/or whole group of people belonging to Christianity throughout the history of Christianity. In this understanding, “Christian Church” does not refer to a particular Christian denomination but to the “body” of all “believers”, both defined in various ways. Other Christian traditions, however, believe that the term “Christian Church” or “Church” applies only to a specific concrete historic Christian institution, e.g. the Catholic Church, the Eastern Orthodox Church, the Oriental Orthodox Churches, or the Assyrian Church of the East. ways. visualization 2 - view from the pedestrian crossing This portico appears like the Baldachin of St. Peter’s. Both act as a landmark for visitors. However, the portico can attract people’s attention more effectively, because of its stretched shape. In addition, the portico is equipped with a practical purpose, serving as a roofed space. Therefore, it stands not as a garden folly, or a sham building, but as ar-

40

chitecture. Its appearance resembles to the ruin of the temple of Poseidon, Sounion. Either of them exhibit a clear focus. One is the sea. The other is the Forest of Chat. link

41

visualization 3 - porch, dining table, lounge, exedra In studying this sequence, I found similar designs in St. Peter’s and Palazzo del Te. These two buildings have two architectural languages in common. It is a combination of a curved wall decorated by some arches and a aedicula-like porch. At the St. Peter’s, altar of the chair of St. Peter was positioned in between Baldachin and the apse. At the Pala-

42

zzo del Te, a court yard was flanked by a porch and an exedra. These languages are applied in this project as well. They make an abstract but a clear focal point in between them. As illustrated in this visualization, their explicit and vibrant form would attract more people to the site. link

43

visualization 4 - the dining table and the lounge at sunset Garden is a place where nature performs. Here, as at the dining table in Villa Lante, humans perform (see the link). The portico controls light and casts shadow. The lounge provides an enclosed exterior space with seating, and the dining table serves as a counter at the site.

44

These architectural languages encourage human interaction and their conversations with nature. Although their tiny scale, they behave as a distinct focal point in the campus. link

45

visualization 5 - The portico and the exedra as a focal point (view from the Yayoi street) From the main gate on the left, a terrace runs up toward the site. The portico is lifted up at the same angle as the terrace, while the lowest part of its roof remains horizontal. Thus, the portico can show the steep angle of the terrace to the visitors. It also displays the sudden end of the upward movement of the terrace.

46

This design exhibits the site context as the dynamism of movement, and differentiates the portico from static buildings (gazebo, casino, or pavilion). This project gives the site a vibrant atmosphere perceptible from all directions thanks to the circular arrangement of the two arches.

47

visualization 6 - view at the annual festival In the fall, Chiba University holds an annual festival. In order to build a temporary stage for the event, the two main buildings are strategically positioned. As seen in the architects of the Casina Pio IV (see the link), the aim is to transform the site into a courtyard by placing the two buildings on both ends of the open space.  It gives not only a focal

48

point to the campus but also a festive atmosphere on a celebratory occasion. When a stage is set up, the exedra and benches will provide the speculators with seating. link

visualization 1 - overall view This courtyard has corridors and slopes, raised above ground level. The corridor base is raised 200 millimeters from ground level. The top of the drainage slopes, colored orange, is raised 120 millimeters from ground level. The corridors serve as a pedestrian path, and the slopes function as bicycle parking. A casino provides people with a rest area

58

and forms a backdrop for the courtyard. As in Capitoline Hill, this courtyard is urbanized by the casino and the corridors. Elsewhere, the greenery furnishes the courtyard with intimacy as in the Shazdeh Mahan Garden. link

59

visualization 2 - view from corridor Greenery makes this courtyard a unique place among other places in the campus. It makes people feel as if they were walking around the center of the courtyard rather than heading straight to their destinations. Thus, this courtyard shows itself as an enclosed garden like a peristyle in a Roman villa, courtyard in a palace or cloister annexed to a

60

church. People can refresh and deepen their thoughts by walking around the greenery. Thanks to the corridor, they can walk through the site without being exposed to the sunlight or the rain. link

61

visualization 3 - view across the court yard This scheme produces an effective connection of spaces around the site. The courtyard consists of corridors and greenery.  These two elements create paths, the passages made by the corridors and vertical cross-sections formed by the greenery. They connect the main street of the campus on the right and the passageway of the engineering facility

62

on the left. As the greenery has enough space in between them, people can walk through the courtyard vertically, horizontally, and diagonally. Therefore, while the corridors and the greenery appear to form an enclosed garden as in a peristyle of a Roman villa, they can provide open circulation of traffic surrounding the entire courtyard. link

63

visualization 4 - view towards the court yard The greenery marks the center of the court yard and creates a perspective to the Forest of Chat. The court yard serves not only as a bicycle parking but also as an intimate garden among the monotonous buildings, like an oasis in a desert.

64

This garden-like space provides freshness of the greenery for people. Furthermore, the corridor also gives an intimacy and a strong perspective to this place and leads people to their next destinations. link

65

visualization 5 - lounge at the second floor

66

This lounge promotes the communication among students. Here, people can take a rest or have a chat with each other overlooking the Forest of Chat. Being enclosed by this casino, the porch and the exedra, the Forest of Chat is defined more vividly as the campus square. link
