A Trip to the Hot Springs It doesn’t matter if it’s hot or cold. A trip to the hot springs can be fun for people young and old. This Sunday, Patrick and his dad are going to take a trip to the hot springs. They are going to go swimming and have a good time together. It’s early Sunday morning and they are getting ready. “Patrick! Get your things together. We will be leaving soon for the hot springs.” “OK, Dad. What do we need to take?” Patrick asks. “You will need a swimming suit, a swimming cap and a towel. If you want to bring your swimming goggles, you can bring them, too.” Dad says. “Can I bring my flippers?” Patrick asks. “Your flippers?” Dad says. “No. You won’t need them. But you may want to bring your flip flops. The changing room floor is a little dirty, you know.” “Yeah, and the walkway to the pool can be slippery, too.” Patrick and his Dad get their things together and put them in their backpacks. The bathing suits and towels will be wet after they go swimming. They are going to bring an extra bag to put them in on the way home. *Stories written by FETs of Taitung County for the Taitung County English Teaching Resource Center 2013-2014: Eden Alvey, Matt Andrews, David Hays, Bridgett Kuhns, Adam Matz, Caleb Paul, Robert Pigott, Stephen Woggon

“Don’t forget to bring your wallet with your ID and allowance.” Dad says. “After we go swimming we can buy a snack to eat!” “Yay!” Patrick responds. “I want to get one of the hard boiled eggs.” “OK. But, I’m going to have a bag of potato chips and an ice tea.” Dad says. “Ice tea? I want one, too.” says Patrick. “And the potato chips!” “If you have enough allowance, you can buy whatever you want. But, remember not to spend all your money in one place.” Dad says. “Yes, Dad,” Patrick responds. From a distance Mom yells to them, “It’s going to be hot today so remember to take your water bottles with you! I will have food waiting for you when you get home so don’t buy any snacks or drinks. They’ll spoil your appetite!” Patrick and his dad smile at each other. “Yes, Mom,” answer Patrick and Dad.
