elcome! to the debut of our Magazine dedicated to Truth, which simply tells
Truth. When the concept of Jesus Magazine was given to me nearly twenty years ago, I must admit I thought, How Controversial. But then my life took many different turns and went into unimaginable places others might consider controversial. So here I am to share what Truth taught me, a few tools you can take along for your journey, and even some laughter to get you through.
Let’s be honest, people equate Jesus with church. But Truthfully speaking, He is nowhere to be found in most of them. Therefore, a lot of folk have given up on church. So had I. Until I realized I was the church; not the building. Many church buildings I attended were boring, and left me no wiser than when I entered. But I certainly got an eye full of the latest hats in fashion, was entertained by the choir, and left with my ears ringing from the preacher who screamed out his 3 point message. But what had I learned that would keep me together when everything in my life was crumbling? Folk seem to place more trust in the church, then in the Man who made a man the church; Simon Barjona. He called him Peter, and said upon this rock I build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail. Matthew 16:17-18 There is hell in many church buildings, but it should not be in you. Jesus is Truth. Jesus is Fun. Jesus is Life. Let’s live our life according to Truth.

The Reason for
Everywhere I hear the words mistletoe, presents under the tree, Christmas cards, gift lists and oh yes, Stress! Pardon my ignorance, but how can one 12 hour day out of 365 create such an inordinate amount of stress in so many people? Makes me wonder for whom are people trying to impress this one day of the year. A person is only stressed if they want to please. If I don’t get this or don’t do that, they are going to think.... What is more important what they think or what you know? You cannot control another person’s thoughts. They might be wondering why you are going through so much trouble. I can recall as a child, staying up until the wee hours of the morning cooking the Christmas dinner; as many will do this year. Well come Christmas morning, you are tired and cranky. At least I was. If you know Truth then you should know Jesus was not stressed about anything; even when his friend Lazarus died. He did not become flustered and jump on the next boat heading out of town. In fact He waited a few days before going to see the family in Judea. Then He raised Lazarus from the dead. (John 11:1-44) Furthermore if you know Truth
then you should know all the hoopla around this time of year, really is not about Him. There are Christians and Atheists arguing over Nativity scenes placed on church lawns allegedly affecting public ordinances. There are activists who want to take the word Christ out of Christmas when Yeshua was not born on Christmas day or in the month December. He was born during the season of Sukkot (Luke 2:1-18). Think about all the man made ways that entice elaborate spending on gifts, such as Black Friday, and Cyber Monday for just one day. December 25th. Can you only buy and give someone a present on that day? God forbid the manufacturers will stop producing that “must have item after Christmas. Perhaps this is where Stress is induced. When I was a child I believed what I was told. When I became a [wo] man I put away childish things and started seeking Truth. 1 Corinthians 13:11, Matthew 7:7. (emphasis added). Recently, a cartoon picture was shared on my Facebook page where a little boy asked Santa, Where are you in the Bible? If you have children, teach them Truth. When they get older, they will thank you. Because that will be one less lie they will have to get over. Satan is the father of lies. Truth is Jesus gave us a present in April over two thousand years ago. He gave his life on the Cross.
What have you given him?

The other day I read a sign on a church’s marquee: Contemporary Worship 9am Traditional Worship 11am. I must have missed a memo. When did worship become segregated? Furthermore, what is a contemporary Christian? The meaning of Christianity is one who believes in Christ. Christ is not; nor was he ever a fad. In truth, it is written I AM the LORD, I changeth not. (Malachi 3:6) Fads come and go over time. I have yet to find an expiration date on the word of God. But I often hear people give justification to their sin by saying the Word of God was for “that time.” Yet, truth says, He was, He is and He will be again. The Past. The Present. The Future. (Revelation 1:18). He was before you were born, He is with you when you are living on earth and he will continue to exist once you depart. To me that says Christ is all inclusive of whatever “time “you are living. It is quite evident, we are not all tent makers, shepherds tending live stock, or walking on paved roads wearing sandals, as they did during that time period, but we can apply the parables of seed, time and harvest, to the truth you will reap what you sow, either in crops, or in deeds during this time period. (1 Corinthians 3:5-9; Galatians 6:7-8). But nowhere is it written to the believers in Christ, Date until you find your mate. Therefore, the concept of Christian Dating is an oxymoron. Seriously what does a Christian do on a date that is different from a non-Christian? And if he or she is not “The one” by some preconceived method devised by man; then you go through the revolving door again. But what you fail to realize is that ungodly spiritual doors were opened while you were testing the waters so to speak. Therefore, you bring to the next person your emotional baggage they must sort through. Every fleshly action has a spiritual consequence. Our Father God created you and me. Therefore He also created your perfect mate; not stale mate. We are living in a time where compromise is the norm to either be attractive or attract the numbers. Compromise can kill by lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and the pride of life. The wages of sin is death (1 John 2:16, Romans 6:23). Church, worship was designed for the Spiritual Creator, whom we are to worship in spirit and in truth; (John 4:24) not please the masses. Christians, we were created by One Spirit. So if you worship in [ the] spirit by the Holy Spirit then we all should be on one accord. However, if we do the things of the world we will get what the world has coming. Therefore, Love not [the ways of ]the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man Love the world, the Love of the Father is not in him. Whoever will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. (1 John 2:15, James 4:4). There is no such thing as a contemporary or traditional Christian. Either you are Christian or not. For every man shall receive his or her just reward. I hope yours will be everlasting life.
Growing up in church I would often see “saints catch the Holy Ghost.” If the Pastor’s sermon had enough hype in it to get him hollering, the organists would strike the right key chords and send the congregation into a shouting good time. Across pews and in the isles, folk were two stepping. I call it the Holy Ghost Hustle. I think they call it dancing in the spirit. The Bible says, when David danced (in the spirit) out of his robe he was celebrating the One whose presence he was carrying within the Ark of the Covenant. He was not concerned about his prominence, nor did he stop until reaching the destination for ark inside the tent.(2 Samuel 6:14-21) So how is it “church” folk know when to start and stop dancing according to drum beats and key chords? In case you did not know, before Satan was kicked out of heaven to roam the earth seeking whom he may devour, he was a Cherub in charge of music. Makes you wonder whose spirit they are dancing to in the church. Especially when the musical selections are derivatives of the rhythm and blues genres [nick] named Gospel so it can be performed by “Christian” artists. One day while in the car, I was turning the radio station away from such abomination when the voice of The Holy Spirit actually said “Mausoleum Music.” If the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead and now dwells in you (Romans 8:11) can detect music that does not edify life, why can’t “saints” discern the devil’s music in the church? The Holy Spirit is alive, in all places at all times and actually talks. He is not something that is caught like a cold or a ball that you would want to throw back. Dancing in the spirit from your inner man to the Holy Spirit is not a rehearsed chorus line seen from church to church. I heard one Tele Preacher say, the Holy Spirit will not cause you to gyrate and perform like a 3-ringed Circus. The spirit and the flesh are separate. The flesh wants to be seen, do what everybody else does, and run around the church relay style. I never understood that one either. Nor could I ever “catch the Holy Ghost.” This kind of church behavior has become such a spectacle videos were made. See for yourself. Click on Image.
And if you saw yourself, you might to put off the old man and his deeds, repent and ask the Holy Spirit to wash you whiter than snow because you are operating in religion, not by His righteousness. Can I get a witness?
Be ye holy as I am holy, thus saith the Lord. Leviticus 19:2
It is written sing unto the Lord a new song. (Psalm 96:1, Psalm 98:1, Psalm 149:1, Isaiah 42:10). The musical chords behind the lyrics are important because what is heard not only affects either your soul or your spirit, but also ascends to the heavens. And since the Lord inhabits the praises of his people, (Psalm 22:3)what is heard must be pleasing unto him in order for it to get past the second heaven; the devil’s lair. It is the spirit that influences the creation of the song which determines whether it is of the spirit of the world or the Holy Spirit. Below are sound clips from four songs. Two of which are classified as Christian Gospel. If the lyrics were removed from all songs, could you tell the difference? Clip 1

A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance A man was working for the airline in the baggage area. A passenger walked up to him and asked, “Have you found Jesus?” The man replied, “No. This is luggage. If you are looking for Jesus, if he was on this flight, He’s [probably] looking for his luggage too. And if the airline lost Jesus’ luggage; God help them.” -Bill Cosby Jesus replied, “I travel light.”
An elderly woman had just returned to her home from an evening of religious service when she was startled by an intruder. As she caught the man in the act of robbing her home of its valuables, she yelled, "Stop - Acts 2:38!" (..turn from your sin...) The burglar stopped dead in his tracks. The woman calmly called the police and explained what she had done. As the officer cuffed the man to take him in, he asked the burglar, "Why did you just stand there? All the old lady did was yell a scripture to you." "Scripture?" replied the burglar, "She said she had an AXE and two 38’s! -Doris White A young woman, a retired professor, and a young man were being escorted by an Angel. The professor asked the Angel, “Who are you and where are you taking us?” The Angel replied, “I am the Angel Gahadria. It is appointed to each man to die once and then there is judgment.” The professor responded “I don’t even believe in you (angels)”. Gahadria said, “That is irrelevant.” -Taken from the movie Final Exit
but by sorrow of heart, the spirit is broken. Proverbs 15:13 When God created you, He placed His signature stamp on you. When He comes for his creation, will He find His mark? “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand he will drink the wine of God’s wrath, which has been poured undiluted into the cup of his anger. He will be tortured with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and the lamb.” Revelation 14:9-10
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is a brawler. Proverbs 20:1
At nearly every festive occasion, there are always spirited drinks. If there is not an open bar at someone’s Wedding, this will gain the most attention. The social norm is to have a glass of wine with dinner or meet for drinks after work with the most commonly used phrases in the world; “Let’s go have a drink. Or can I buy you a drink?” And the first place one may turn to relieve stress or drown their sorrows is the bottle. Distilleries denote the amount of (ethanol) contained in an alcoholic beverage by proof. If a product is 20% alcohol it is 40 proof. O verlooking the proof percentage for a moment, ethanol is used as fuel for vehicles and is highly combustible. Yet, their manufacturers advertise drink responsibly. People who drink these proofs, seem to think they are fool proof. By either believing they are in control and know when they have had enough. Or coerced into the myth one drink won’t harm them. B ut consumption of any alcoholic beverage will make you act like a fool and there are repercussions for all actions; besides the proverbial hangover. Now it is true, Jesus was at an “open bar” Wedding and turned water into wine, as written (John 2:1-11). And at the last supper, wine represented Christ’s blood as the cup of the new covenant when he bore all our sins on the cross. (1 Corinthians 11:24-26) However, in the bible whenever a king’s heart was merry from wine, (most often at banquets) a grievous mishap occurred. Wine was responsible for the dismissal of someone’s wife, (Esther 1:10-19) and the beheading of an innocent man (Matthew 14:3- 10) Not to mention fiendish plots carried out. (2 Samuel 13:28; 11:2-17).
While the phrase today, of having a drink may sound harmless, the spirits operating in conjunction with those spirits are quite harmful. Whatever is done outside of Gods intended purpose is neither in remembrance of his Son; or glorifies him. D runk drivers kill innocent people. So before becoming Jolly at your feasts this season, or any time, consider the cost. Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night; till wine inflames them! D o not get drunk with wine, wherein excess; but be filled with the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 5:11, Ephesians 5:18) Only the Holy Spirit can make you drunk and not cause a hangover or regret the next day. Acts (2:421) Call upon the name of the Lord and become intoxicated by His Spirit.
ere is some food for thought. It is normal to experience the presence of God, and his Angels while yet living on earth. In truth, many in the Bible saw and spoke with His Angels on streets, and in their homes. So why is it today, the notion of someone seeing spiritual Angels, or even Jesus, stirs up so much controversy? The person is either called a heretic, or a liar and the experience, “spooky.” B ut let someone see a ghost walking down a hallway, or another whispering to a dog or horse, levitate, or summoning the dead; that is believable. You do not see folk trying to shut down any of those films or performances. In case you did not know, those strange phenomenon’s have nothing in common with God. Seems the devil’s paranormal has become a staple of acceptance while God’s spirituality must be explained by scientific reasoning. Go figure! I AM that I AM (Exodus 3:14)
