One third part of crimes in Kirovograd region are in Kropyvnytskyi. Every ninth crime committed in Kropyvnytskyi is repeated crime. It is demonstrating the need for prevention of repeated crime in town.
The task of the probation authorities is to correct the convicts and prevent them from committing new crimes. This work need to do in cooperate with local authorities and non-governmental organizations.
One of the ways of such cooperation is the provision of social prevention services on the basis of the probation authority. This social prevention service may include a package of counseling services for probation subjects to prevent risky behavior, to prevent socially significant diseases (HIV, tuberculosis, viral hepatitis C), and to develop skills in addressing domestic problems, in particular, employment.
As a result of such cooperation, the subjects of probation from Kropyvnytskyi should reduce the level of recidivism.
This raises the need for local authorities to fund social prevention in probation.
