On-Post Activities Mar 17 – last day to turn-in your JBLM volunteer nomination. Anyone can nominate a volunteer for the Volunteer of the Year 2014 award. In order to be nominated, volunteer should be registered with VMIS (www.myarmyonesource.com), Active Duty members must be stationed in JBLM, primary volunteer service must be with organizaqtions on JBLM from Jan 1-Dec 31 2013 and previous volunteer of the year winners may be nominated but cannot be chosen as Volunteer of the Year. Summer Camps for Military Families Military Family Camp – registration starts April 1st. This affordable Military Family Camp (priority is given to Single parent and families of deployed/redeployed Soldiers. Located at the beautiful Malibu Club in the Canadian Royal Fjords . Passports are required. Camp rates are based on rank which usually ranges from $50-$150 per entire week of high adventure, inclusive of transportation, meals, lodging and fun activities. Will accommodate approximately 30 JBLM families, so make sure you apply early. Available dates for 2014: August 17-23 and August 23-29 http://www.younglife.org/ Adventure Camps for Military Teens ages 14-18 yrs old – FREE including transportation. Watch out for the 2014-2015 camp schedule to be released soon. Mar 29, 8:30-9:30pm – Earth Hour. The City of Lacey is joining with communities around the world in support of the Earth Hour. Businesses and residents in cities and towns world-wide are switching their lights off for one hour to show concern for the environment. Mar 29 – Soggy Doggy 5K, Fort Steilacoom Park. A fun day for you and your best friend, with dog friendly routes (either 5K or 1mile) and other fun activities for the whole family. Fee includes one pet registration, t-shirt, and pet bandana.
