Doris Carr, the owner of Dcartistry Hair & makeup Studio. Richmond, Va. Master Hair stylist ,Educater, and Makeup Artist, She has been in the business of beauty for over 20 years, She has trained from the best to be come the pro artist that she is. Her work can be seen in in several publications, such as hype hair, Sophisticates Black Hair, Black Beauty, Upscale, Salon sense and many more. Over the years she has competed and won many hair and makeup competitions.. Her Talent has allowed her to create a unique total look that speaks volume. Come experience DC Artistry at its best. Akia White is a native of the Charleston area and has been in the acting and modeling busi ness for over 10yrs. Her latest work includes the former TV show “Connecting for Christ”, the 2010 TV show formerly titled “The Show”, and is the upcoming co-host for the new fashion TV show “2Expo”. She has also done everything from starring in college produc tions, commercials, pageants, brand Ambassador/promotions, film extras, and Runway. Akia is trained professionally in TV commer cials and modeling where she taught for a prestigious modeling company and is the Owner/CEO of Enhance Modeling. . At Enhance we unveil and help students realize the unique individuals that they are one class at a time. Learning basic to advanced modeling, runway, and speech techniques will build self confidence that can be used in every aspect of life, positively changing the outlook of every heart and mind involved. 16

Melissa Otoo

is a Master Cosmetologist with a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Criminal Justice. She is the owner of Hair Garden, LLC, a company geared towards natural hair care and knowledge. She is also a certified Loctician and Natural Hair Care Technician with 8 years of experience in hair care for all hair types, transition ing and natural hairstyling. She believes in caring for the hair and the scalp as well as educating the client. She has given classes and workshops at Augusta Technical College, Palmetto-Peach State Barber’s Association Convention, Fro Fashion Week, and independently. Master Cosmetologist and professional Makeup Artist Cheryl Tucker, have been in the beauty industry for over 18 years, and will earn her Master Cosmetology Instructors License in May 2012. Her experience in the industry involves creating faces for local celebrities, runway, CD covers, television commercials, pageants and bridal makeup. Cheryl has enhanced the images of celebrity golfers for ESPN camera interviews. She has also been involved in the nationally acclaimed Bronner Bros. Hair Show creating fantasy makeovers for the hair battles. Cheryl’s makeup artistry includes the techniques of airbrushing, freehand, shadowing and contouring. She has taught makeup classes at Augusta Technical College Cosmetology Department and provides instructional services in other professional settings. Through her passion in the business, she continues to put the BEST FACE FORWARD. 17

Charmaine M. Green was born in Philadelphia PA. and resides in Kingstree SC, holds a Bachelors Degree in Cosmetology, former Salon owner of 15yrs currently employed as Program Director/ Instructor at Williamsburg Technical College in Kingstree, SC for 14 years. Wife and mother of 2 children daughter 23 and son 9.
