CHILD DEVELOPMENT CLOSURE ALL Child Development Centers will be closed for annual training on 28 May 2010, the Friday prior to Memorial Day. This day was chosen to minimize any inconvenience to military Families, as it is also a scheduled training holiday. In the past, mission essential personnel providing a memorandum from their commander were able to receive childcare. Unfortunately, CYSS will be unable to provide childcare in support of mission essential requirements during the 28 May staff training day. Please contact your Child Development Center for further information.

MANDATORY VEHICLE REGISTRATION DECALS Effective on 1 May 2010, you must have a valid DoD Vehicle Registration Decal (DD Form 2220) on your car or motorcycle in order to get on all US Army facilities. You will be turned back to the visitor gate for a visitor’s pass if you fail to accomplish this task. Decals are available from the Vehicle Registration Offices on Fort Shafter and Schofield Barracks. For additional information, please call 655-0894 (SB) or 438-1517 (FS).

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY MONTH Please join us as we celebrate Occupational Therapy month at Schofield Barracks. WHERE: Bldg 691 WHEN: Friday April 23, 1200-1400. There will be multiple workstations including: How to prevent Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Testing of Grip strength, Splint wear, Ergonomic Assessments and overall tour of what Schofield Barracks Occupational Therapy service has to offer. Providers and SBHC staff members encouraged to attend. Food and drinks will be available, so first come, first serve. Hope to see you there.

Polynesian Culture Center Annual Pass Discount Polynesian Cultural Center is offering an annual pass for Hawaii residents for half price @ $25/adult $12.50/child until 4/30. It does NOT include the luaus or shows, but does offer a discount on them and DOES include free parking at the center. News and Community Briefs Flagler Closure — Flagler Road between Matthews Avenue and Lyman Road on Schofield Barracks, will be closed April 17-May 9, for road construction work. Call 234-9102. “A” Closure — Road “A" between Quad A and Quad B, or Waianae and Kolekole avenues on Schofield Barracks, will be closed for road surfacing through April 25. Water Restrictions — The Directorate of Public Works asks all residents and building occupants on Schofield Barracks, Wheeler Army Airfield, East Range and Helemano Military Reservation to conserve water because of electrical problems at the main water treatment plant for Schofield Barracks. Water should be used for essential purposes only. Residents and tenants should refrain from watering lawns or washing cars until further notice. DPW Operations and Maintenance Division are onsite with back-up generators and are working diligently to permanently resolve the prob-

Navy MWR Activities Abandoned Vehicle Auction: On April 24, get a deal on a set of wheels! Vehicles have been released for the MWR Abandoned Vehicle Auction, which will be held at the Abandoned Car Lot at Pearl Harbor. Springfest 2010 - FREE Event: Spring into action with MWR! On April 24, bring the entire family to Ward Field for Springfest 2010. The fun begins at 2 p.m. In conjunction with Springfest, celebrate Earth Day and Month of the Military Child. There will be food, games, activities, prizes and live entertainment, including the world-famous ventriloquist act Willie Tyler and Lester. Also, be sure to check out Island Showcase to learn about military discounts and specials on Oahu. Child and Youth Programs - Registration for Summer Camps Begins April 26: Spend the summer with MWR! Join the adventure and experience a fun-filled time at camp. With locations at Catlin Clubhouse, Rainbow Bay Marina, NCTAMS and others, there is something for everyone. Registration begins on April 26 at Catlin Clubhouse for single/dual active duty (assigned to Commander, Navy Region Hawaii commands, Marine Corps commands and tenant activities). All other active duty and DoD employees may register online beginning May 3. All registration for sports, specialty, travel and overnight camps begins on April 26 at 8 a.m. and will continue until all camps have reached maximum enrollment.
