2012 DONOR GUIDE Book

tsf-mizzou.com

A message from the Director of Athletics What an exciting time it is for all of us at the University of Missouri! Record enrollment, world class faculty/staff, research dollars hitting record levels…the list goes on and on. Combined with all of this was also the announcement on November 6, 2011 that we will be joining the Southeastern Conference! Our brand is as strong as it has ever been and the future looks incredibly bright.

We are so appreciative of the support of all of our fans and in particular those members of the Tiger Scholarship Fund. There is no doubt that these successes at our University are directly related to those tremendous contributors in the TSF. As we have taken advantage of this historical opportunity, it will require all of us to “Tiger Up”. From our academic efforts, recruiting, competition, collaboration, facility enhancements, etc…it will take a comprehensive effort by all of us as Tigers to continue this “trendline” of success. Please take a look at those opportunities for all of our TSF members in our priority seating and parking program, annual contributions, planned giving and specially dedicated contributions. Those opportunities are broad-based and provide our supporters with a variety of ways to invest in our future. Opportunities and investments… those two critical components will be key to growing to unprecedented levels at the University of Missouri. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for the Tigers. We need you more now than ever before. MIZ-SEC

Mike Alden Director of Athletics

The mission of the Tiger Scholarship Fund is to provide scholarship support for Mizzou student-athletes. All contributions given to the TSF annual fund are used to cover scholarship expenses such as tuition, room, board, academic counseling, tutors and life skills programs for Mizzou student-athletes. In addition, the TSF generates private funding for endowments, capital projects and other needs as prioritized by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Gifts to the Tiger Scholarship Fund are utilized in a fiscally responsible manner to “Prepare Champions for Life” and to enhance and instill the three core values of the Athletics Department, which are:

Athletics is the Window Through Which the University is Often Viewed: Athletic competition and athletic success are important to the University of Missouri. Financial stability in athletics ultimately breeds success and success breeds pride among our many alumni and friends. Studies have shown that winning – more importantly, winning the “right way” (in compliance with NCAA rules and with great team effort) – can be a tremendous recruiting tool for the general student population as well as for potential student-athletes. In addition, athletic accomplishments often provide an invaluable public relations “advertisement” for Mizzou while also serving as a catalyst for philanthropy to all areas of the University. Self-Supporting Athletics Department: The University of Missouri does not receive institutional support for operational and debt service funding toward its intercollegiate athletics program. Thus, similar to private business, the Mizzou Athletics Department must operate solely from what revenue it generates.

Football Parking Allocation Each donor’s Football Priority Points total plays a critical role in the final allocation of permits. The Priority Points totals listed on page 24-25 are the point cutoffs from the 2011 football season. These point totals are listed as a reference for the 2012 allocation of football permits. Meeting this point total does not 100% guarantee allocation in each lot in 2012 (as demand in each lot varies annually). RV Parking Season-long, RV parking passes in Lot O (adjacent to Hearnes Center) will be offered and sold exclusively to TSF season ticket holders for $400 based on availability. RV passes in Lots C, G, J, and K will be sold as “renewal only”. Reserved RV passes may not be used for cars. (You must have an RV to enter the RV lot.) In order to tailgate, set up a tent in the lot, or use the green space in any of the TSF donor lots, there must be a reserved parking pass associated with that lot. Gifts to these programs add to donors’ TSF Priority Points totals (see page 18) but they do not offer donors the benefits detailed on pages 14-15 including priority season ticket and reserved parking options. All-American Society Recognition in the All-American Society is reserved exclusively for those who have truly gone the extra mile in support of the Tigers. All major gifts and pledges of $100,000 or more, above and beyond season ticket priority, qualify for involvement, as do estate gifts of $500,000 or more and donor Priority Points totals that exceed 3,000. All-American Society members are invited to exclusive events with Mizzou head coaches, student-athletes, and administrators throughout the year and are recognized on campus. Membership is granted for life once the aforementioned criteria are met. The John and Dolly Kadlec Society Membership in The John and Dolly Kadlec Society is exclusively offered to those who make commitments of support to the Tiger Scholarship Fund in the form of planned gifts such as wills, bequests, annuities and life insurance policies. Planned gifts not only offer a wonderful opportunity to ensure the success of Mizzou student-athletes for generations to come, but allows donors to leave a lasting legacy at Mizzou. Extra Point Club Extra Point Club gifts directly benefit the Mizzou Football program. The revenue produced by the Extra Point Club is utilized at the discretion of the Head Football Coach for football-specific program enhancements (with the approval of the Director of Athletics). Membership in this exclusive group requires a $15,000 pledge payable over a five year period. Donors are invited to exclusive functions throughout the year in which their gift is made. 3 Point Club

3 Point Club gifts provide annual support directly to the Men’s Basketball program for financial needs above and beyond the program’s operating budget. The revenue generated by the 3 Point Club is used at the discretion of the Head Coach for basketball program enhancements (with approval from the Director of Athletics). Membership in this exclusive group requires a $10,000 pledge payable over a five year period. Donors are invited to exclusive functions, including socials with the coaching staff and closed practices periodically throughout the year in which their gift is made.

TigerIMPACT The mission of TigerIMPACT is to provide opportunities for family, friends and alumni to support, get involved and make a positive difference on our Mizzou Women’s Basketball Program. All gifts made to TigerIMPACT will offset financial needs above and beyond their budgeted expenses in a given year. Olympic Sports Giving Philanthropic gifts to benefit our Olympic sports programs truly do make a difference and are sincerely appreciated by our coaches and student-athletes. Contributions to Olympic sports are 100% tax-deductible. Many teams at the University of Missouri rely on private support for locker room improvements, equipment purchases and many other expenses not covered in their operating budgets. One Mizzou Locker Campaign Former student-athletes have the opportunity to leave a legacy for the next generation of Tigers. Locker “sponsorships” are available in conjunction with the football, women’s basketball, baseball, soccer, and softball programs. A recognition plaque will be prominently displayed on the front of a locker and the donor name will be included on a plaque just outside the entrance to the team locker room. Lockers may be sponsored from $1,000 to $5,000 depending on the sport and may be pledged over a three- to five-year period. Big Wheel Program The Big Wheel Program consists of car dealers from across the state of Missouri and beyond that donate the usage of new or low mileage vehicles to Athletics Department coaches and staff. The purpose of the program is to aid in the areas of recruiting, scouting, public relations and fundraising. Big Wheel donors receive complimentary tickets and reserved parking for the season in Football and/or Men’s Basketball, and are recognized at the TSF Gold Club level. Mizzou Performance Club

The purpose of the Mizzou Performance Club is to supplement the University of Missouri’s strength and conditioning program which benefits all 20 sports. 2012 tsf Donor Application

Membership Name:

Tax Information If your contribution includes an option to purchase tickets, 80% of your gift is tax deductible. For 100% tax deductibility of your gift, you must decline your right to receive any benefits at the time you make your gift. This must be noted in writing or on the detachable membership form. Major gifts or contributions not associated with ticket priority are automatically 100% deductible. Only the individual or company making the gift is eligible to take the tax deduction. Tiger Scholarship Fund donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes. Since the TSF operates in conjunction with the University of Missouri Office of Development and Alumni Relations, gifts are tax deductible to the full extent of the law. IRS Matching Gift Information It has come to our attention that per IRS Publication 526, the IRS 80/20 Rule relating to charitable contributions from which a donor receives or expects to receive benefits (the right to purchase parking passes, priority seating for events, etc.) must also be applied to the matching gift claims as well. If benefits are related to a TSF contribution, the matching claim could only be submitted for 80% of the portion of the contribution which is considered truly charitable and tax deductible. Please make note of this change when considering your TSF contribution.
