1.  SUMMARY   This report provides an overview of the different planning phases and includes the activities conducted during each planning phase. The planning phases for my project titled “AUTOMATIC RAILWAY LEVEL CROSSING CONTROL” along with the outcomes of the different activities will provide a clear direction and guide in the assembly, execution and implementation of the project prototype in the second and third semesters. The main task of our project is to stop (cars, pedestrians, etc.) from crossing the railway while the train passing. We will use in our project many devices e.g. (PLC, alarm system, sensors, etc.). The train should stop automatically if the barriers fail to close without risking the train, cars or pedestrian.

3.  PROJECT  OBJECTIVE   •

The project is used for safety purposes to protect the (cars, pedestrian, trains, etc.) from accidents by controlling the flow of the cars or the pedestrian and by alerting them automatically.

To design and construct a railway level crossing system that can control barriers to warn and stop vehicles crossing railway tracks when a train is approaching.

Teamwork.

We will learn mechanical skills.

We will learn electrical skills.

We will know how to buy the parts.

Will take more experience about PLC and some electronics parts.

We will learn how to make good communications.

How to write a report by a professional way.

The train should stop automatically if the barriers fail to close without risking the train, cars or pedestrian.

4.  PROJECT  BACKGROUND   We know from our observation in our real life, these systems use signal light, gate, sensors and control unit. The project is used mainly for safety, as we know the system will work automatically without any help or assistance from any human. We saw the real system it was very simple, but also useful. Without this system there will be many accidents and fatal disasters will happen everyday.

5.  PROJECT  DESIGN  APPROACH   The main function of the “AUTOMATIC RAILWAY LEVEL CROSSING CONTROL” project is to stop vehicles, pedestrians, etc. from crossing the railway while the train crossing. The project team should ask “How to operate the alarm system?” The project team will brain storm possible solutions such as using PLC The outcome result for “AUTOMATIC RAILWAY LEVEL CROSSING CONTROL” should have all the requirements and cover all the safety procedures and it should have a nice finishing the most important thing that the project has to work perfectly.

8.  CONCLUSION     We as a group conclude that this system is very important in the real life, because it manages the flow of the train, vehicles and pedestrians automatically, so all the movements will be faster and more organized, besides it will get safer, which is the most important point.
