THROUGH OUR DOORS… Today (6-18) a baby was born to a joyful, excited mother, prepared to handle the many challenges having a baby can bring. This baby’s mother has been attending 1st Way educational classes on Saturday’s for the past 3 ½ months, earning diapers, clothes and furniture. She has learned so much by attending these classes and speaking with our counselors. She is certain of the support, love and care 1st Way has and will continue to give her. She has looked into and used many other resources referred by 1st Way to help her with other aspects of her life. Coming in 3 ½ months ago this woman was a different person. She was unhappy and scared about having another child; with no support and resources she felt there was no way she could properly care for her baby. Not knowing what to do she told her friend she was going to Planned Parenthood to have an abortion as soon as she could, since her “time was running out”. Her friend told her to go to 1st Way and talk with us about the help and care she could receive before she made an appointment. Hesitating she came to 1st Way, scared, hopeless, embarrassed and ashamed she “couldn’t” parent her baby.
What a wonderful outcome for this woman and her family, all with a little support and help from 1st Way!
