pring is definitely in the air with blossom starting to appear on the trees and the sun starting to come out. It makes us all start thinking about where to go on holiday or lazy days sipping a glass of wine in a beer garden with the sun shining down on us. For other people it is the first step to putting our house on the market and making the most of the good weather to show our house in the best possible light. So what happens if you have hoarded those precious family memories and as a result go to market with a cluttered home that no buyer can relate to, or what happens if you secure that all important sale but you have not yet found that dream home? At Armadillo storage we offer a wide range of storage options whether you are looking to store just a few items to de-clutter the house or whether you are looking to store your extra items if there is a gap in between sales. All the units at the Armadillo stores are separate and you have your own lock on the door as well as having 24 hour CCTV to ensure that your items are always secure. We only charge you for the space that you need and then you can access your unit anytime during the hours of 8am-6pm Monday-Friday or 9am-6pm Saturdays. We can even take deliveries for you at the store if you are purchasing items for your new home which means you can enjoy the sunshine instead of waiting in for deliveries, and if you need your mail sorting during a gap then we can also rent you a mailbox. All of these services can be offered from a minimum of 7 days and we only require 7 days notice on most room sizes so no long term contracts because we appreciate how quickly your circumstances can change. We also sell different packaging materials including house moving packaging packs for your convenience.

For more information or to find out about other business services then call either our Sheffield West Bar store at 61-79 West Bar, S3 8PS on: 0114 2706377 or our Sheffield Parkway store at 8 Parkway Avenue, S9 4WA on: 0114 2720988 or visit www.bigyellow.co.uk. If you need boxes then pop into one of our just stores by the end of May and we will give you mention 1stMags or if you enquire about storage then we will give you . Here are a few tips on how to pack your items: Stack chairs seat to seat with a cloth or paper to separate them. Use good quality storage boxes. Fill boxes to capacity—partially full or bulging boxes may tip or collapse. Heavy items should be packed into small boxes so that they are easy to lift. Make up an inventory of your stored items and keep it in a safe place at home. Protect your fragile goods in bubble wrap and tissue paper. Fragile items such as crockery and glasses should be wrapped in paper or bubble wrap before storing—do not use newspaper (the ink stains). Pictures and mirrors should be wrapped in bubble wrap, marked fragile and stacked on their end. Wrap table legs with bubble wrap before storing. Use our wardrobe boxes which allow you to store your clothing on hangers in order to keep their shape.

JUDGE JANE... The ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius said “when words lose their meaning – people lose their freedom” which is some small comfort to anyone who believes our current politicians are unique in their sins of misrepresentation. For example we were recently advised by our Chancellor the economy is in recovery. What few understand is that following a very steep recession recovery should be very strong. As it is not the case currently we must seek to establish the cause of this unique circumstance. Prior to the current financial crisis and before the imposition of austerity the annual growth rate of GDP was a little under 3% in the years 1988 to 2008. In the same time period only 3 years have seen worse growth for the British economy than the 1.9% of 2013. Each of those 3 years was associated with the recession in the early 1990s. That crisis was caused by an attack on sterling by City speculators as it struggled to maintain its value in the European Monetary Fund. The worst day of the crisis is historically known as Black Wednesday. As now, ordinary households bore the brunt of the political folly in the form of rocketing interest rates. I recall the day a letter dropped through the door of my first home announcing

our mortgage loan was attracting an interest rate of 15%. Times were hard for my young family then as they are now for many similar and the speculators lived high on the hog then... as now. So, annual growth rates associated in the past with crisis are now redefined as recovery and Chancellor says success when he knows there is a crisis; and growth when he knows we are experiencing stagnation. It’s not madness...it’s an insult...but, he’s smirking all the way home in his chauffeur driven car to his millionaire lifestyle as millions struggle home on badly maintained roads or overpriced, aging and unreliable public transport. It is essential we all understand the implications the austerity program will have on the hopes and aspirations of the next generation. Continuing minimal wage growth, rising household debt and the investment slump are all linked in terms of their consequences. For example without investment from companies the creation of new, high-skilled well paid jobs will not happen. Mention of the one million jobs created in the last two years obscures the truth that less than half of these have been for full-time employees or that many of those are on zero hours or minimum wages. Combine that with the impact of

JJane

cuts to public sector spending in health, education and Local Economy budgets for social care including fire fighters, police etc and the outcome is inevitably chaos and crisis. It is this situation which forces people to drawn down savings or take on new debt to compensate for household budget pressures – something which is not sustainable in the long term. For most this situation will be a crisis to be endured for at least a further decade unless there is a complete reversal of policy. Most of the small business owners in our local communities will be feeling the impact of all this reduction in activity so please ensure to give them first refusal. If you have a specific issue you wish me to include in the column please don’t hesitate to contact me at jjjustmyopinion@gmail.com in the interim please ensure to use your local traders and invest in your local community.

It’s just my opinion!

Becky’s Movie Previews The weather may be starting to pick up and we have longer days so here’s what is coming up at the cinema this month…

Coming Soon…

Noah Even those who aren’t especially religious know the tale of Noah and his ark. We’re taught about it at school about how Noah was asked by God to build an ark as there was going to be 40 days and 40 nights of rain so the world would be flooded. It’s also been depicted a few times, most notable in the 2007 comedy sequel Evan Almighty. This version though has more of a serious edge to it though, and a much bigger budget too. The story shows how

Noah ( ) is contacted by God and he knows what He plans to do. As it comes from director Darren Aronofsky, ( ) there is more to the story than a man building an ark. There’s an appearance from Ray Winstone ( ) as a group leader hoping to take control of the ark Noah has built. The film also stars Emma Watson ( ) and Jennifer Connolly ( ). Although the subject matter may not be what gets some people to the cinema, big stars and even bigger set designs and effects should make the epic worth a watch.

The Love Punch Next is a British comedy starring the effortless Emma Thompson (

) and suave Bond himself Pierce Brosnan ( ). They play divorced couple Kate and Richard who must work together when their whole retirement plan is taken from them when the head of the company swindles them out of it. They conspire to find the man responsible and make him pay. This takes them to Paris where the man is

getting married and with the help of some friends ( ) they are going to steal a rather large diamond from Richard’s boss’s fiancé. Sure to be tonnes of fun this is one that’s not to be missed.

This is one blockbuster sequel that has been highly anticipated ever since it’s planned release. After the success with the first, which was a remake itself, the sequel is sure to be bigger and many hope, better than the first. We left the story as Peter Parker ( ) had defeated The Lizard and promised Gwen Stacy’s ( ) father he would protect her, this resulting in Peter deciding to keep his distance. Now we not only see that this was impossible for him to do but he has some new foes he has to defeat. Peter is still struggling with keeping the balance in his life, the ordinary life and troubles of high school and the responsibilities he faces as Spider-Man. The one thing he can’t let go of is the mystery

macaws after all. So Jewel cajoles domesticated homebody Blu into embarking on a voyage of discovery in the wild. Along the way, they find her gruff dad Eduardo (Andy Garcia) and hunky, crooning childhood friend Roberto (Bruno Mars)! Little wonder our poor hero is feeling rather inadequate. But you can be sure he'll prove himself once again. All the old gang are back for this high-flying sequel to the hit animation. They're joined by great new characters voiced by Andy Garcia, Rita Moreno, Bruno Mars, Kristin Chenoweth and will.i.am.

surrounding the disappearance of his father. As he digs deeper into his past, he soon has to face new enemies is the forms of Electro ( ) and Rhino ( ) and comes to realise that all his threats have one thing in common; Oscorp. With this set to be one of the biggest comic book films of the year, I’m sure this won’t be a disappointment.

Russell Grant’s Monthly Horoscopes April 2014 fourth house of domesticity. It looks like you'll have to become more independent. Be vigilant about keeping promises to your boss and romantic partner during the approach of Easter. You'll need as many friends as you can get during this rocky period. Life looks up considerably near the 29th, when a Solar Eclipse gives you the answer to a prayer. A childhood dream is about to come true; give thanks. LEO July 24th - August 23rd ARIES March 21st - April 20th Overconfidence can cause problems in early April. Try not to bite off more than you can chew. Opportunities will abound to show off your unique skills, but don't take any safety risks when giving demonstrations. A contest of wills between you and your best friend or lover will erupt at mid-month. Don't fall victim to emotional blackmail. A Lunar Eclipse on the 15th will bring an end to a painful relationship dynamic. If a love affair falls apart at the seams, it's for the best. Seek solace from your family during the second half of the month. Resist the urge to push away a relative who is brave enough to tell you some painful truths. Striking a balance between your personal and professional lives will be difficult around Easter. A Solar Eclipse on the 29th brings an unexpected moneymaking opportunity. Financial stability will be yours.

Don't pretend to be an authority on a subject you know little about in early April. An unassuming expert will reveal your ignorance. If you are totally in the dark about an area, ask plenty of questions. You'll turn a potentially disastrous situation into a learning opportunity. Plus, your newfound knowledge will allow you to break out of a dead end job. Resist the urge to lash out at somebody who tries to give you advice. Shocking news about a relative or neighbour, or cousin could reach your ears near the 15th, when a Lunar Eclipse puts an end to certain illusions. Prepare to be shocked. Apathetic colleagues will make you furious during the second half of the month. A generous gift will give your spirits a lift as Easter draws near. Brace yourself for an exciting career opportunity that will become available on or around the 29th, courtesy of the Solar Eclipse. VIRGO August 24th - September 23rd

TAURUS April 21st - May 21st The opening days of the month are excellent for signing contracts and forging business relationships. You might also decide to make things official with a romantic partner. You won't get much cooperation from a combative during the second week of April. Resist the urge to start an argument and just do the job yourself. This will save time and aggravation. A Lunar Eclipse on the 15th will bring an end to this oppressive work situation. It looks like somebody will get fired. Friends will be loyal and loving throughout the Easter season. Let your loved ones lavish you with affection. Speaking your mind will become easier as the month draws to a close. Take this opportunity to express tender emotions to your amour. An exciting new beginning is possible on or around the 29th, when a Solar Eclipse falls in your Sun Sign. There's never been a better time for a dramatic makeover or lifestyle overhaul. GEMINI May 22nd - June 21st April opens with an exciting career opportunity. This is a great time to go on job interviews and launch salary negotiations. A seasoned executive will be impressed by your sharp intellect and quick wit. You might want to spend a little extra money on a handsome suit. Looking the part of a seasoned professional will turn the tide in your favour. If you already have a job, you could get a handsome promotion or award for your hard work; there should be a big announcement around mid-month. A Lunar Eclipse on the 15th will bring an abrupt end to a romance or creative project. Although you will be disappointed by this turn of events, it's really a blessing in disguise. Don't go on any spending sprees in the second half of April. You need to conserve your resources around Easter. A secret will be revealed on or around the 29th, when a Solar Eclipse electrifies your twelfth house of hidden matters. CANCER June 22nd - July 23rd Be very conservative when making promises during the opening days of April. You don't want to give your boss false expectations. If you're going on a job interview, be honest about your achievements. Any exaggerations on your resume will result in an automatic disqualification. Family won't be terribly sympathetic about career problems during the first half of the month. Keep these matters to yourself. A relative could withdraw their support on or around the 15th, when a Lunar Eclipse disrupts your

Be as conservative as possible with money during the opening days of April. Unexpected expenses could force you to draw on savings. You'll have to discuss budget problems with a business or romantic partner during the first week of the month. Luckily, your partner will be kind and compassionate, making it easy to iron out problems and sort out debts. A source of income will come to an abrupt end on the 15th, when a Lunar Eclipse sends shock waves through your second house of finances. This is just the jolt you need to move in a more fulfilling direction. Fortunately, your best friend or lover will be eager to ease this transition. Financial matters will be a source of strain around Easter. Then, just when you start to panic, a marvellous Solar Eclipse on the 29th will send an opportunity to teach, write, or travel for money. LIBRA September 24th - October 23rd Work will consume the lion's share of your attention throughout early April. This won't sit well with an attention starved lover. Try to strike a better balance between your personal and professional lives. The opportunity to make decorative improvements to your office space will appeal to your creative side. It will be such a relief to create more pleasant, attractive surroundings. A Lunar Eclipse on the 15th brings an end to an era of self delusion. It's important to face your strengths and weaknesses truthfully after an authority figure gives you a wake up call. Resist the urge to push a loved one into making a decision near Easter. It's best to adopt a no pressure strategy. Don't pretend everything is great at home if you're having trouble on the domestic front. It's better to tell your boss you are having some personal struggles. A Solar Eclipse on the 29th brings extra cash for luxury items. SCORPIO October 24th - November 22nd A power struggle with a fellow worker will erupt in the early days of April. No matter what you do or say, this bully will maintain the upper hand. It's best to make a strategic retreat and bide your time. You will prevail, provided you are patient and continue to perform well. Despite these struggles, you will be more charming and sexy than ever. Prepare to get lots of romantic attention throughout the first half of the month. A Lunar Eclipse on the 15th will bring a health matter to light. It looks like you'll have to end a bad habit. This may require you to put some distance between you and the people who have

fostered this behaviour. Resist the urge to order a sibling or neighbour around Easter. You need to cultivate friends, not enemies. A powerful alliance will occur near the 29th, when a Solar Eclipse electrifies your seventh house of partnerships. SAGITTARIUS November 23rd - December 21st Resist the urge to spend lots of money as a means to impress a romantic interest in early April. Spontaneous gestures of affection will make a bigger impression than expensive gifts. Make a few beautifying touches to your home during the first week of the month, when you'll be able to find gorgeous furnishings and artwork at discount prices. It will be pointless to argue about religious or ethical matters with a relative mid-month. Neither one of you is going to budge. A Lunar Eclipse on the 15th puts an end to a troubled friendship. You'll breathe a heavy sigh of relief. Be extra resourceful with your money near Easter, when unexpected expenses will meet you at every turn. Fortunately, you'll get a lucrative job offer on or around the 29th, when a Solar Eclipse electrifies your sixth house of work and service. CAPRICORN December 22nd - January 20th It will be hard to strike a balance between your private and public lives during the first week of the month. You want to spend time with your family, but a pushy authority figure will demand you put in extra hours at the office. An angry confrontation will erupt on the 15th, when a Lunar Eclipse causes this official to say or do something unacceptable. It looks like you will be in for a change of leadership. Resist the urge to apply for this position, as it will be more trouble than it is worth. You're better off spending this lull with your partner. If you're single, spend the second half of April looking for love. A friend could set you up on a wonderful blind date around Easter. The 29th brings an exciting surprise, courtesy of a powerful Solar Eclipse. News of an engagement or pregnancy is imminent. AQUARIUS January 21st - February 19th Good news about a creative endeavour reaches your ears in early April. This is a great time to explore unknown territory, whether through business or travel. You may have to work on a tight budget, but that will just prompt you to be more inventive. Resist the urge to cut legal corners, or you'll get in trouble. Follow the letter of the law through the first half of the month. Apply to a religious, cultural, or educational institution for a grant if you need additional funds. Someone you admire will be the subject of unfortunate publicity on or around the 15th. A Lunar Eclipse will expose some unsavoury elements of their character. Let this be a lesson about idolising others. An appreciative executive could give you a raise near Easter. A Solar Eclipse on the 29th will help you move to a bigger place or expand your household in some exciting way. PISCES February 20th - March 20th Romance and finance will not mix in the early days of April. Don't feel pressured into buying your lover an expensive gift. You should be loved for who you are, not for what you can afford. If you want to spend some money, buy some new clothes or get a spa treatment during the first week of the month. You're long overdue for a treat. Devote your energy to a creative project on the 12th; you'll be thrilled by the results. A Lunar Eclipse on the 15th causes you to part ways with a business partner or lover. It's time to put your money into a separate account, even if you plan on getting back together later. You will be rewarded for your resourcefulness in the days surrounding Easter. A Solar Eclipse on the 29th brings an exciting opportunity to study with a respected artist. This class will change your life.

Same Sex Marriage - an update… Since 2005, same sex couples have been able to enter into civil partnerships, which involve a civil ceremony conducted by a registrar at a registry office or a place with a licence to undertake civil ceremonies - in a similar way to different sex couples who get married in a civil ceremony. Civil partnerships entitle same sex couples to similar legal rights to those of married couples on issues such as inheritance, pension provision, life assurance, child maintenance, next of kin and immigration, but civil partnership can only be brought to an end in designated courts which deal specifically with civil partnership breakdowns, the choice of which is not as extensive as it is for different sex couples. However, finances are dealt with in a similar way to different sex couples. The most fundamental difference between civil partnerships and marriages has been the inability for same sex couples to have a religious ceremony, but parliament has now passed a bill that allows same sex couples to undergo a marriage ceremony. Whilst it allows same sex couples to have a religious ceremony at any religious institution

and call themselves “married”, religious organisations will not be forced to conduct marriages. The first same sex weddings in England and Wales can take place on the 29th March 2014: several months earlier than expected when The Marriage Act was passed. Those wishing to be amongst the first to marry had to formally give notice of their intentions to marry on the 13th March. One of the downsides of the new act is that, although same sex couples who married abroad under foreign law and are currently treated as civil partners will be recognised as being married in England and Wales from March 2014, UK couples who entered into a civil partnership under UK law will not automatically be recognised as being married. Unfortunately this means that some civil partners will have to undergo the ignominy of getting “divorced” by a formal dissolution of the partnership in order to then remarry. This anomaly is likely to be addressed, but, whilst there is indication it may be considered by the end of 2014, there is no information at the moment about how this is likely to be achieved or the procedures that will be required. A Barnsley couple are threatening to sue the government after being told they cannot get married as soon as The Marriage Act

comes into force as they would have to dissolve their civil partnership through the court first. The couple, who have twins, feel they have been penalised by entering into a civil partnership at a time when that was the only legal route open to them to formalise their relationship and protect their children’s financial Situations. In general the provisions for same sex marriage will, however, bring same sex couples in line with different sex couples both in terms of marriage and divorce.

April Gardening As light levels increase and the soil begins to warm up, so does the growth of all plants and weeds, Keeping weeds under control is of upmost importance annual weeds can be hand picked or hoed on a dry day , because left to go to seed they will multiply in their thousands. Perennial weeds can be treated with a propriety herbicide or dug out. It is an ideal time to feed your plants in borders and pots this will give them a boost and supply essential nutrients for healthy growth, healthy plants are less likely to suffer from attacks from pests and diseases and perform well. Beware of late frosts and keep vulnerable plants and new shoots protected at night if frost is forecast. Fleece is cheap and will generally be good enough, but you could use newspaper. If you have neither getting up early before the sun rises the frost can be washed from the plants by spraying with water. Don’t be tempted to buy or put out tender bedding until much later, in this area mid to late May is ideal, and even then be prepared to cover it if necessary.

Spotlight On… Claire Else 44 and single lives in Killamarsh Near Sheffield, she has had a career as a graphic designer, travelled throughout England both with work and a series of relationships. Claire had a variety of jobs from graphic design, self employed vehicle sign writer, bar work and an Ann Summers Party Representative. Whilst moving through UK, Claire set up fusion parties as an evening & weekend business. As Fusion parties was developing Claire had requests for children’s fancy dress, so Claire launched Partytogo. The Partytogo.co.uk website has grown, so Claire has decided to make developing the business her full time career selling fancy dress, balloons, party supplies and decorations for all the family – A ONE STOP PARTY SHOP. www.partytogo.co.uk After two years online Claire is now opening a small party shop at Aston Springs Farm on Mansfield Road, Aston on 1st April. Claire says "The shop will have a variety of fancy dress, party supplies and balloons but it's mainly to make

N.P.T.C QUALIFIED TREE SURGEONS

people aware of Partytogo in the area." Obviously all partytogo's products can't be displayed because there are so many. The children's party themes will be a main feature in the shop showing some of the many themes and matching accessories such pre-filled party bags, sweets, toys, pinatas and games for parties too. There will be a selection of balloons for all occasions there too that can be taken on the day. As it's coming into the wedding season partytogo have a NEW range of wedding supplies.
