1947 (Birstall) Sqn ATC gets a new OiC! In June 2013 flying Officer Paul Vissani stepped down as Officer in Charge of 1947 (Birstall) Squadron, after 7 years of being in charge. During his term at the Sqn, Flying officer Vissani guided the Squadron to numerous awards. The cadets had a great deal of respect for him and were very sad to see him go. They presented him with a Leicester Tigers rugby ball, which all the cadets signed, along with a case of wine from the staff and Civilian Committee. This was presented at Leicester aero club where Flying Officer Vissani has established strong links with the Sqn. We would like to offer many thanks for everything he has done for the Sqn and wish him well in the future. Taking over as Officer in Charge is Flying Officer Richard Gaskell who joins us from 2229 (Loughborough) Sqn. Flying Officer Gaskell will offer new and exciting challenges to the cadets at the unit. 1947 (Birstall) Sqn are currently recruiting new cadets. If you are aged between 13 and 17 and would like a new challenge, please come along and see us. We parade on Tuesday and Thursday evenings between 7.00pm and 9.30pm.
