NOTE It is not necessary to remove the oil seal from the hub or to disassemble the oil deflector unless the seal is defective. Special Tool
Any wear or grooves in oil seal deflector would require replacement.

It has been standard practice to replace the oil seal every time the hub is removed to reduce the possibility of oil leaks.

Removing Bearings The inner race of the tapered roller bearing remains in the axle housing when the hub is drawn out. Remove this race together with the seal retainer with a bearing puller.
