Replacing The Hydraulic / Hydrostatic Filters

Checking And Adding Fluid

For the correct service interval for replacing the hydraulic / hydrostatic filters. (See SERVICE SCHEDULE on Page 10-50-1.)

Use only recommended fluid in the hydraulic system. (See HYDRAULIC/HYDROSTATIC FLUID SPECIFICATIONS on Page SPEC-60-1.)

Stop the machine on a level surface. Lower the boom all the way and tilt the Bob-Tach fully back. Stop the engine. Figure 10-100-1

Stop the engine and open the engine cover. Remove the two filter elements (Items 1 & 2) [Figure 10100-3]. S3322

Check the fluid level at the sight gauge (Item 1) [Figure 10-100-1] behind the front left wheel. Figure 10-100-2

Clean the surface of the filter housings where the filter seals contacts the housings. Put clean oil on the seals of the new filters. Install and hand tighten the two new filter elements.

WARNING AVOID INJURY OR DEATH Diesel fuel or hydraulic fluid under pressure can penetrate skin or eyes, causing serious injury or death. Fluid leaks under pressure may not be visible. Use a piece of cardboard or wood to find leaks. Do not use your bare hand. Wear safety goggles. If fluid enters skin or eyes, get immediate medical attention from a physician familiar with this injury. W-2072-0807 S7162

Clean the area around the hydraulic fill cap. Remove the fill cap (Item 1) [Figure 10-100-2] at the front left side of the Telescopic Handler and add hydraulic fluid until visible in the sight gauge. Install the fill cap.
