Message from the Executive Director Dear Members, Welcome to the first edition of For Your Benefit for all 1199SEIU Home Attendants and Home Health Aides under the 1199SEIU Home Care Employees Benefit Fund! Bringing all of our Home Care workers together into a single Fund will help stabilize funding and stretch your benefit dollars. In this issue of For Your Benefit, we provide an overview of all that your Fund has to offer, including healthcare coverage, which went into effect September 1, 2014, for eligible members.

So, in the first section, you will read about our Wellness and Member Assistance Program, which can help you stay healthy in mind and body. These programs can be an important resource if you find yourself facing problems that you cannot handle alone and you need counseling or support. And it is completely confidential.You will also learn about our Citizenship and Tax Assistance Programs – and membership advantages designed to help you protect your health, like our upcoming “Healthy Mind, Healthy Body” workshop and our 24-Hour Nurse Helpline for any medical question you might have. In the second section, you will learn about the two health plans available to eligible members, including details on your dental plan. Whether you are receiving healthcare benefits or not, your Home Care Benefit Fund provides a number of other valuable benefits to all 1199SEIU Home Care members. We have separated this issue of For Your Benefit into two sections to help you quickly find the information you need. The first section provides an overview of the benefits available to all members, and the second details the health benefits offered to those members who meet the eligibility requirements for health coverage.
