Through December 27
South Coast Repertory’s beloved staging of A Christmas Carol returns yet again, bringing 19th century London back to life. All ghosts are present, as is Tiny Tim and the rest of the Cratchit clan, and everyone’s favorite curmudgeon, Ebenezer Scrooge, played by the nearly immortal Hal Landon Jr.

TOTEM
Through December 29
Cirque du Soleil returns to the “Great Park” with another touted-about production—this time a creative retelling of mankind called Totem. Since its Montreal premiere in 2010, over two million people have enjoyed the Totem experience, with the show garnering raves from choosy culturists at the San Francisco Chronicle and The New York Times. Tracing the journey of the human species, from our origins as amphibians to our desire to fly, Totem teems with characters evolving on stage before audiences’ very eyes. Enjoy the show with your family under the blue and yellow tent this holiday season.

SEVEN YORKSHIRE LANDSCAPE VIDEOS (2011)
Through January 20
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is featuring the work of Britishborn David Hockney, considered one of the most creative artists of our day, in an exhibition entitled Seven Yorkshire Landscape Videos (2011)—a showing of various drives through the beautiful Yorkshire landscape that Hockney recorded via 18 cameras attached to his car. The presentation “forces the eye to scan, and it is impossible to see everything at once,” says Hockney, whose longtime champion, the LACMA, once again features the artist at his finest.
