How it Works 100 Braid St Studios private parties provide a great opportunity for you and your friends to have a fabulous time and try something new. It’s a mix between a painting class and a party. You can book your event with us on any day or evening, even if we have a class scheduled and no one has registered for that event. When you get here you’ll find everything you and your friends need and then just follow along with our instructor to create your own painted masterpiece. It is a no-skills-required environment where we welcome non-artists and artists alike. But....I’m not an artist! That’s great! Our instructors make it easy for you to complete the painting, even if you’ve never picked up a paintbrush in your life! We promise you’ll have a good time, no matter what stage of creativity you are at in life. What is included in the price? We provide the instruction, workspace, complete with easel, apron, canvas, brushes, and paint. And at the end of the party you get a fantastic take-homeready painting that YOU created! We also provide coffee, tea and water for refreshment.

When and how can we book an event? Private events can be booked any Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday during the day or evening. We usually schedule studio painting parties & classes about two months in advance but we are happy to switch our schedule to accommodate your private event as long as no one has registered for the class or there is no other private events scheduled. Please call 778-886-5391 or email with the date and details. What do we wear? Wear whatever you’d like. We provide aprons to cover your clothing; however we all know things happen. We will be painting with acrylic paint, which is generally washable if caught right away but on some fabrics it can stain. We would suggest wearing something that you wouldn’t be devastated if paint accidentally got on. What will we paint? Gallery: Choose a painting from our Art Event Gallery or for an extra fee of $40 we can create something special just for you! An experienced artist will walk you and your guests step-by-step from a blank canvas to a masterpiece. Free Paint: If you have a really artsy group we also offer the opportunity for free paint. In this case you’ll be provided with all of the materials but each individual can paint and create whatever they want. Splatter: If you and your group want to try something really unique book a Splatter Party! Each individual gets to suit up (we can accommodate up to 4 or 5 people in the room at the same time) and head into our Jackson Pollock Splatter Room to create their very own masterpiece. The observation window makes it easy for your friends and family to look in and enjoy the fun too! We provide all of the materials, the canvas, protective suit/painter gear (hair cap, shoe covers, overalls, safety glasses) canvas, brushes, and paint. Trash the Dress Splatter: Want to celebrate your special day in a unique way? Need some closure around your divorce or a job loss? Bring in your wedding dress, business suit, or any piece of clothing that connects you to the event and paint bomb it! Your friends get to look on through the observation window as you have your fun and then it’s your turn to watch them do the same. You supply the outfit; we

provide all of the materials, protective suit/painter gear (hair cap, shoe covers, overalls, safety glasses) brushes, and paint. Will our paintings be dry? Yes! Acrylic paint dries quickly and we allow enough time within our classes to make sure they are dry before you take them home. We will also provide dryers to speed up the process if needed. Do you provide food or drinks? We provide coffee, tea, and lemon ice water. We provide two options for food: Bring Your Own Food (BYOF) means you are welcome to bring your own snacks or we do have a list of preferred caterers that we can suggest so you don’t have to do any of the work! Can you provide alcohol? No, not at this time. The host of the special event (either an individual or a designated representative from a club or other group) must apply for a Special Occasion Liquor License. Applicants must first attend a BC Government Liquor store and complete an application. Once completed, approved and stamped by the BC Government Liquor Store staff, the application can be brought to the New Westminster Police Department front counter. Please note: The NWPD requires at least 5 business days to review and approve all applications. For more information see the BC Government Liquor website and the NWPD website. How many people can you accommodate? Generally we can accommodate up to 40 people as this is the maximum for one of our workshop areas. If your party is larger please contact the owner to discuss. Please note: we have a 10 person minimum for private events and art parties. If you have fewer than 10 people we require the minimum fee. How long is the event? All art and painting parties start at 2 hours with 15-30 min set up. Parties over 2 hours may be accommodated but must be approved in advance and there may be a fees associated with the extra time involved.

What about payment? A non-refundable deposit of $150 must be made to secure your date. This deposit will be applied to the final balance on the party date. No refunds or cancellations within one week of your party date. The deposit is non-refundable and can only be applied towards a different party date. The full payment must be made by the host at the end of the night with cash or through Square. We ask that you please confirm all details of your party at least one week in advance of your party date. How do we make payment? We are able to take cash (exact change only) or credit card payments through Square at the Studio. For the sake of convenience we can also set up your party through Eventbrite and invite only the people on your guest list (please provide their emails). They can then pay by credit card through Eventbrite. Additional Details We have the following items for use at no charge: cake knife, fridge, and extra tables. We have the following items for use for an additional fee: 4 white cloth banquet tablecloths, plastic tablecloths, paper napkins, paper plates, several vases, serving trays and items in our dĂŠcor vault. What are our transport options getting to the event? By Car: The studios are conveniently located just off of Hwy 1 on Braid St between Rousseau and Brunette. Parking is available in the front of the building and additional parking is available in the back of the building. By Skytrain: Millenium Line: Braid St Station. 100 Braid St Studios is about a three minute walk across the street from the Braid St Skytrain station. The station is the major interchange with skytrain for many Coquitlam and New Westminster bus routes. By Bus: Many Coquitlam and New Westminster bus routes meet at the Braid Station interchange and then it's just a short walk to the Studios.
